If she withdrew from exaltation, she would be forced to think- And every thought led to fear and contradictions; to dilemmas for which she was unprepared.

All of those are great and I don't think you can top Bobby Darin on this one!
I do like the Nick Cave cover tho.....it's all kind of slightly out of kilter. I think that's why I like it!

Be kind to your web-footed friends, for a duck may be somebody's mother.

I thought you were a ripe grape
a cabernet sauvignon
a bottle in the cellar
the kind you keep for a really long time

Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion
I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

When I was in my teens, I would watch Monty Python on PBS and then got hooked on the program that followed it, The Earnie Kovaks show. Had never heard of Kovaks at the time but quickly got hooked.
Every week they would run a series of connected short skits, sans voice, with just this eyrie music playing in the background. An oscilloscope trace of the music would run across the screen in front of the skits. My little sister burst in my room one week and said, what is that show you listen to.....it's driving me crazy....i had to come see. We started watching it together every week and laughing our heads off. Several years later we discovered the song was Mac The Knife by hearing Casie Kasem answer a trivia question about it and playing a little of it on his top 40 show. I think the question concerned the song covered the most time swhich hit the top 40 the most times.
Have the Bobby D version on my iPod these days.
