Among dlb's list of things disappearing is swimming holes. I'm pleased to report that the one 40 miles from me is still there!

I do have to add, it takes a real man (or woman) to jump into a river in Massachusetts.

The best part is when you're right next to a nude beach and people wander over.

I'm with Holsety on this one though: the southern ocean is my swimming hole (although we also have an inlet to swim in as well).

BTW I have been to freshwater swimming holes and they are fun. But the ocean is really my favorite due to 1: salt water in my eyes, 2: getting pounded by waves, 3: getting pounded into the dirt and pebbles while making pathetic attempts at bodysurfing on the mildest of waves.

Swimming in the ocean in the rain is incredibly awesome too (though you wanna get everyone out of the pool if the lightning comes guys, because it's hard to lightning squat in the water).
