While the wife and I were in Amsterdam back in '04, we took a coupla photos of me next to some tiny, tiny cars, including the Smart. I'll have to see if I can find and post the one of me next to the car, where it looks like my ass is bigger than the whole car. :)

Lombard Street does seem like a good place to display a lot of cars, but it is also the best place to wreck a car. I don't know if I'd be one to ever take an apartment on that little stretch. I'd be too worried some nut tourist would try and take it too fast and open up my garage.

I took my uncle's BMW down that street when I was in San Francisco. There was a lot of traffic, not really any room to go fast. I really like the new Smart cars, I'd have one but they're a bit weedy for long distance driving. They're great in the city though; you can park nose-on to the kerb they're so short.

Smart cars are also surprisingly tough, having an extremely strong integral safety cell. Fifth Gear tested it by driving one into a huge concrete block at 50mph. It didn't deform at all, although the decceleration forces were far too great for a human to survive. Smart Car: tougher than it's squishy occupants!

Smart cars have a serious roll cage to protect drivers from accidents. I would not want to take one on a long trip either, especially one that involved serious highway driving but they are fab for city driving. I wanted to bump this thread because I feel that if anyone has any questions or concerns about their cars and repairs and wants to talk to someone they should feel free to talk to me. I know most people wanna leave work at work but I got into the automotive industry because I love cars and I have 24 years of specialized knowlege and experience that I am more than happy to share. Blame it on the gearhead boys I dated in high school but still, it's not to be sneezed at so if anyone needs help/reassurance/counseling about cars then just ask. I'll do the best I can to answer your questions.

I wouldn't want an apartment there either, but mainly because when we were there I saw a tourist taking photos of the insides of houses through the front windows. I wouldn't want that.

Y'know, now it does make me want to own one around there. I'd have the underwear and socks dance from Risky Business down pat.

Hey Jenn, is this your garage?
SAN FRANCISCO, California (CNN) -- The owner of Luscious Garage is wondering whether the electric wall outlet will be the "gas tank" of the future.
