Nationstates - Flags

Post by stonemaybe »

..Raise your flag!

Image

I was given this flag when I started Nationstates. I quite liked it, but thought I could design a more appropriate one. Knowing next to nothing about files and how they work and how to upload things, I failed! (My one attempt was about 100 times too big, or something)

However, I was mulling over my flag, and the strangest coincidence occurred to me. One of my favourite singer/songwriters (mentioned many a time in Vespers) is a guy called Rory Mcleod. I've seen him about a dozen times live, and nearly always managed to chat with him after each show - he's friendly like that. the thing about Rory is, he always always always wears the same clothes when he performs - it's got to a running joke at his gigs (he claims he has twenty of the same t-shirt). Anyway, I google imaged him and here's Rory Mcleod in the t-shirt he always wears on stage - notice any similarity with Inis Rua's flag?

(that's him on the left)

Any other flag issues out there?

I really like this one. I imagined it as a shiny gold coin on a sea of blood. ;)
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Cov. Jr could tell you from whence my flag originates. Some people think that's a dragon, but in my country it's the Hyena-God. :P
