WHAT IS THE BEST SUPER HERO FILM SO FAR?

Post by aTOMiC »

The Super hero genre is a tough cookie to bake when it comes to translating its spirit from the graphic novel to the big screen. We have seen some great successes of late and the future seems very bright with the projects that are in production or promised to come.

Here is a partial list of Super Hero films in the order I prefered them.
I'm sure I'm missing a few.

1. X-2
2. Spiderman
3. X-1
4. Mystery Men
5. LXG
6. Superman I
7. Batman I
8. Unbreakable
9. The Hulk
10. The Mask
11. Darkman
12. The Crow
13. The Rocketeer
14. Blade I
16. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
17. Swampthing
21. Spawn
22. The Shadow
25. Batman III
26. Superman II
30. Daredevil
31. Judge Dredd
39. Superman III
45. Dick Tracy
46. Batman IV
51. The Phantom
55. Batman II
63. Tank Girl
98. Superman IV
99. Supergirl

In alphabetical order:

Batman
Daredevil
X-2

TMNT and Dick Tracy were also cool.

Anybody see the oooooold Dr. Strange movie? I saw it on TV decades ago. Then it was on several months ago, and I taped it because I remembered loving it. Turns out it sucks real bad!

Alright Fist, don't make me post "Worst television superhero shows" thread.
I saw Dr. Strange back when it was first broadcast. I think sucked is an accurate description. :-)

Yeah, I remember it too, as well as about a half-dozen horrible Spiderman episodes.

Perhaps they were trying to make it a bit more realistic? :haha:

How about the Captain America series? Or was it just a couple of tv movies? With the clear shield?

The Cap film featured a clear shield and is among the worst things I've seen since the original Punisher movie with Dolph Lungren. Marvel had a contract with a lower budget film company to make several films. I couldn't be happier that they broke away from them back in the early 90's.

The Spidey television series was ridiculous but had its moments and as kid ravenous for all things Spiderman I loved it. If I watched it today I'm sure I would cringe. :-)

Yeah, cause wearing web shooters on the outside of your shirt sleeve is so much more realistic.... :screwy:

I think X2 and Spiderman stand head and shoulders above the rest. The Hulk was a noble effort but fell short in execution. Still haven't seen daredevil but have heard very mixed reviews on it. I can't imagine it would be able to compete with either X2 or Spidey.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. It doesn't. Most people understand that the film makers of Daredevil wanted the film avoid being a re hash of Spiderman. They did that alright! ugh. :-)

Get LXG before wasting your money on DD. The more I watch it, the more I believe that DD & the Hulk completely sucked.

I saw LXG at the movies dAN...wasn't terribly impressed. It was entertaining but didn't rise above typical effects laden, superhero fare.

I didn't get to see LXG in the theater but I just bought the dvd and I've watched it twice. I found it cool in the traditional sense with a refreshing twist on the characters. I don't understand what the problem with the film is for people but reactions are natural and I respect that. Not everyone liked Mystery Men but I loved it. Go figure. dAN hates the Hulk and I found it mildly irritating.
