Watch out for zombies in the major cities - the WotLK pre-release world event has started!

(Check out the boxes in Booty Bay for the source of the plague. Argent Healers can remove it if you go near them.)

My belf mage caught the plague from a troll in STV. Ro just saw a guard in Goldshire with it.

Yeah, anyone can get infected, except, it seems, the faction leaders.

Edit: Is it jsut me, or are some of the Argent Dawn banners starting to turn green?

Blizzard have confirmed that the Deathcharger drop rate was increased in the latest patch. it's now 1 in 100. (Apparently it was originally 1 in 5000, then was increased, and has now been increased again.)

Some idiot spread it through the entire Draenai starter area last night. I let it get me after I was infected because I wanted to see what would happen. Fairly annoying. You can't run or mount. You do get a zombie action-bar, which basically lets you make more zombies. Or self-destruct.

One thing to be careful of; as a zombie you are red and killable by anyone, including people of your own faction. No one likes a zombie.

The event's well into stage two now, with crates appearing in major cities, and Plagued Roaches that infect you when you kill them. It's also getting harder to dispell and the duration is getting shorter (I'm starting at 7 minutes now).

The zombie thing is getting old fast. In between looking for Argent Healers, avoiding zombies, getting killed by zombies, and waiting for questgivers to respawn after they were killed by zombies... I think I managed exactly one quest.

If you're keeping score, that's all the Shattered Sun Trainees, the Skyguard lady and her nether ray, and an Argent Healer dead. I have no idea why the flight master is still alive. Most of Shattrath looks like that right now.

While it's on my mind, I want to mention a few UI things I would recommend everyone have turned on; these are things that have made a big difference in how aware I am of what's happening in a fight and if you don't use them now, you should.

1) Enemy casting bars, and target of target. These are almost essential, and can be turned on in the blizzard UI options. I'd assume at least some of you already found these. These will let you know what your enemy is doing and to whom.

2) Scrolling Combat Text. I couldn't live without it. This displays text similar to the damage appearing over enemy mobs when you attack, but for things incoming to your character. By default Blizzard only shows these numbers over your portrait, so it is hard to tell what is happening to you while keeping track of everything else.
Once again, WoW has a built-in system that can be turned on in your inteface options, but I prefer to use an SCT mod forthe extra customisability and better looks. I use this one, fairly simple to use and quite customisable.
On my screen I have incoming damage scrolling down toward the bottom of the screen from my character, with mana gains and heals scrolling diagonally toward the top right, and messages just above my action bars, which are very useful for things like Fingers of Frost and Brain Freeze procs when playing Timkins - I know instantly when I have a free fireball or additional crit chance up.

I'd also add that having a threat meter mod such as Omen comes in very useful; even though the WoW UI now keeps track of threat by default, it's nice to have the information displayed in bar form to easily see the relative tps of party members.

Those are all good things. Omen is the only addon I have seriously considered installing - a lot of people will not let you into a raid if you don't have it installed. As a huntard capable of pulling undead off a pally tank, I should probably get it.

Heh. Ferax pulls that boss off me too. I suspect he dumps aggro at least a little when he webs you (considering I do about double the tps of the rest of you on, for example, Headless Horseman, who isn't undead).

I believe the old thing about not letting people into a raid without Omen was because Omen relied on being told a person's threat by their own Omen client - that is, it could only display threat of people who had the mod installed. Now that Omen just reads the built-in threat output to display it, it can show everyone whether they have the mod or not.

Part of the reason it's just an "also mention" and not a "you really should have this" (other than that the default ui now covers some of the function) is that tanks are generally really high on threat right now, and there's not much risk of threat-capping (I struggled to pull a Shadow of Doom off a warrior the other day, he was doing ~100 tps more than me. I didn't check his gear or spec, though - I suspect he was far better geared than I am).

Edit: also - not a huntard.

Ah, good to know. I really don't want to install any addons.

Can't tell you how many times we have gotten to a serious boss fight and had to *explain* to our hunter what, exactly, misdirect is. Uhg. Never trust a class that can level to 70 with autoshoot. At least the melee classes have to run up to stuff sometimes.

(and necrosis rules!)

perhaps you classes that come out of the freakin WOMB knowing all there is to know about effing talents and skills would be better suited teaching other players all your innate wisdom instead of bitching about it and calling people shitty names, hmmm? maybe?

i don't know what misdirect is as no one has BOTHERED to "*explain*" to me.

but don't put yourself out. i'll google and see if that helps.

I don't think anyone's called any names in here Luci.

And Misdirect is the level 70 Hunter skill, the tooltip should tell you what you need to know - it's for helping a tank get aggro.
