Do you wear a scarf?
Do you wear a scarf?
I fell in love with them last winter and as it starts to get cold again this year I now remember how much I love them.
I've always known that if you want to stay warm (beyond the obvious coat) to cover your head. You "lose" a lot of body heat from your head. But I'm thinking now that the neck is more important.
I don't wear hats in the winter but ever since I adopted the scarf I'm always warm.
Even in the winter rain it keeps my neck dry.
And on super cold days a simply moving it up and around the mouth makes a big difference in staying warm.
Let us sing our praises of scarves!!

Kee-rist! You're getting old, HLT. ( Me, too. ) I've never been partial to scarves, but I have started to like very heavy coats.High Lord Tolkien wrote:Do you wear a scarf?

Scarves are one of those things (like gloves) that I buy every couple of years and promptly lose.
So, no. I've never been able to hang on to one long enough to appreciate it's awesomeness.

Scarves are fun. They cinch up the neck area, helping to keep your body warmth around your torso, where it needs to be. I have a coat with a faux-fur collar that comes up so far that I can't wear a scarf with it, which makes me sad.
Scarves are also fun to knit. Cast on a few stitches, and keep knitting 'til you run out of yarn.

I use to always have one when I motorcycled. Kept the cold out at 60mph. I don't motorcycle anymore...so I don't have any more scarfs. I think they wander off on their own at olde age and die secretly.

I don't think I've ever seen a scarf in real life.

Tell me if she laughs or cries

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion

When I was a kid, I was forced to wear a scarf on several occasions. Always broke out in a rash afterwards. I haven't worn a scarf in forever, and frankly I'd rather get frostbite.

When I lived up north, I often wore a scarf.
Now that I live in Florida, I only wear decorative type scarves.

I have one scarf. I bought it in Illinois at the train station on December 23rd, 1995. It was one of the better $10 I ever spent. It was lint-free, which was very important, as I was wearing it with my navy issue black pea coat (first time we were allowed to wear it, and that also rocked). Since I had a shaven head and was wearing a dixie cup (luckily I had earmuffs), it provided vital warmth. Living in the southeast doesn't give me much reason to wear it, though, and I'm not entirely certain where it is.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
