Does size matter?

Post by Evans Caamora »

Maybe I just don't have any imagination, but how exactly did Eremis and/or Gilbert translate a 2-story tall slug from a full length mirror? Was the mirror with the slug especially large to accommodate the creature or did it just squeeze through? If such translations are possible, then why couldn't the Masters simply create and utilize hand-held mirrors instead of carrying around these full length mirrors?

I always wondered that myself. Good question.

I think they mentioned that once a mirror reached a certain size (that would be the size of the standard congery mirror), there was no limit. Some of the masters did have handheld mirrors, (mostly Havelok) but all of the handhelds translated essentially sizeless things, like light or acidic liquid.

I always assumed that an image when first translated through a mirror came through as 'image sized' then rapidly grew to full size, once the translation was complete.

Interesting question. . . it seems to me I remember the Dreaming's statement being made in the books.
