Kevinswatch Anonymous

Post by jacob Raver, sinTempter »

Hi. My name's Jacob Raver...

...and I'm a Watch-aholic.

In a given week, I'll spend anywhere from three to fifteen hours posting on kevinswatch. And I can't stop.

I started Kwatch'ing in 2007, went heavy and hard for about two months...and then thankfully got off the stuff.

But then I had a major relapse this past January...

...and now it's even worse. If I don't get my fix I become stoic, irritated and begin to intellectually devolve. I begin to miss the depth and wit of other avatars I have admittedly Kwatched with...

...yes I know, I'm only helping others towards the destruction of their regular lives...I've become that which I feared - I have diligently stayed away from MMORPGs for this very reason...

So, my name's Jacob Raver, Watch-aholic and sinTempter...and that's my story. What's yours? Don't be afraid to speak up, we're all here for you.

You can't do it...and Kevinswatch will make sure of it.

... and see the Watchaholic thread here.
Are you a Watchaholic? Here are the warning signs.

1. Do you post alone?

2. Do you make excuses to post?

3. Do you need to visit Kevin's Watch frequently in order to function?

4. Are you unable to stop posting in Mallorys?

5. Did you ever fight with someone on Kevin's Watch?

6. Do you post on Kevin's Watch secretly (as with another handle)?

7. Do you become angry when people mention how many WGD you have?

8. Has it affected your work?

9. Do you worry more about how your avatar looks than yourself?

10. Do you experience trembling when you haven't posted?

Hello, my name is Auleliel, and I'm a KW addict.
I was not always thus. I used to exclusively communicate with people face-to-face, and was ignorant of all things Internet. But those days of naivete and innocence were not to last.
One fateful day, a friend of mine encouraged me to try out a few of SRD's books. Then she showed me the Kevin's Watch website. I was slow and reluctant to follow her into temptation, but gradually curiosity took hold. "I'll try it just this once," I thought. A few weeks later, I told myself, "Just one more time, just to see."
Eventually I was visiting on my own, without her insistence. I began to visit once a month, then once per week. I created a screen name and avatar. I registered on the website. I read most of the rest of SRD's works. I started visiting more and more often. Eventually I began to feel disoriented and have cravings when I was away from KW for more than a few days.
Now I'm a full-blown addict. I visit KW several times almost every day (which is a lot more frequent than my friend's visits). I think about when (and what) my next post will be, even when I am nowhere near a computer. I talk to people about my experiences with KW. I have had many dreams about KW. I even have become a "pusher", encouraging others who have no experience with KW to take part.
I tell myself that I could quit KW anytime, if I really wanted to. But that is a lie. I could never quit KW, and quite honestly I don't want to.

Oh, I thought you'd use the Phoogle map to find me (it's pointing right to my dorm room right now, and I'm in it). My Facebook is rather inspecific about such things. Good luck finding me there.

Well, if you and Lyr want to make the trip all the way to Wisconsin just to coerce me into taking a position that isn't available anyway, be my guests. :P
We could make an Elohimfest out of it, so it wouldn't be a total waste. :)

Oh, I know Hyperception would love to visit his grandparents' home state again; he hasn't been since he was a kid.

Probably not soon, but if you stay in Wisconsin after graduation, perhaps one day. At least for my family and me. :)

I thought Menolly was in Florida?

24th and Hampton isn't too far away from where I am right now. Maybe a 15 minute drive.
