Actually, I experienced an almost-virgin reading of the Earthsea Trilogy recently. I hadn't read it since 1980, and except for a couple of incomplete memories it was like reading it for the first time. It was nothing like I remembered, which is probably why I hadn't re-read it since.
Of course, that could also be a comment on my 20-year old imagination vs. the almost 50.
But I can't imagine not reading anything of SRD for as long.
