Last night, we saw Harry Potter, and I got to see the trailer for this for the second time. I remember liking it the first time, and now i'm even more excited for it.

I know it's based on a short film, but I haven't watched that yet.

Interesting, and not at all clear if the plot of this short fits in with the feature film at all. Still, I think I'll enjoy it.

There was a bad review on IMDB from someone who claims to have seen an advance screening of it. Even with that, I have a hunch that it can't be worse than Transformers 2, and certainly looks more interesting.

I saw a trailer before Terminator: Salvation, which seemed to be appropriate from what I saw. Still, I haven't seen the short, nor am I a big fan of Burton.

Intrigued is the proper description of my interest.

I finally saw this film over the weekend. In a word: disappointing

Basically, it's a kid's movie. A badly written kid's movie. A badly written, inane, non-sensical kid's movie. A badly written, inane, non-sensical, god-I-want-to-beat-the-main-character-to-a-bloody-pulp-because-he's-such-an-ass kid's movie.

So sad, given the potential with such an artistic style.

Boys and girls, if you ever write a screenplay, keep one thing in mind:

it's alright to have your main character question the status quo because he brings a fresh point of view (namely, that of the audience), but when he does so... he needs to have a reason for questioning the way things are!

If he's telling people that they're stupid for doing things the way they do, when in fact he has no reason for doing so other than to take our word for it, it just makes him look like a douchebag.

Quite sad, really, but there it is.

I thought it was pretty good. A grade up from a kids movie IMO, if being a kids' movie is such a bad thing.

I also didn't have the same take on the spoilered subject.

If the purpose of the status quo is to preserve nothing but those within it, and the reaction to new people and ideas is dogmatic adherence to itself, then the challenge does not require too much thought.

Besides, the status quo had already been refused by others (7 and the twins). 9 couldn't know that, but felt responsible for what happened to 2 (and then was).

That is, if we're talking about the same thing.

I just felt that 9 had no reason for being such a dick to 1. I also thought the portrayal of 1 was too unsophisticated.

Being a kid's movie isn't bad in and of itself; when I wrote that, however, I meant to say that it (the movie in general, but specifically the plot and characterizations) was simple, unsophisticated, and poorly thought out. Those things bother me.

I agree, 9's anger might have been a bit simplistic, but remember the first thing 1 did to 9 was bully him through 8. First impressions, you know.

This movie made it into one of my top 10 most awful movies. Horrible.

There wasnt a continuous minute where there wasnt a fight with one monster or another. Scenes were blatantly stolen from other movies, LOTR, Star Wars and Matrix. There was a juvenile story line rushed to a juvenile conclusion. The movie could not decide if it was a children's movie or an adult movie and wasn't much of either.

Just awful. A real disappointment to say the least.
