Kickass! Really puts things into perspective, but if you pulled back even further, Antares wouldn't even be a mote amongst motes in the universe. Maybe like a nano-small lepton amongst leptons...

How did Pluto get onto these pics? Pesky little Kuiper Belt Object, sneaking in where it doesn't belong...

This reminds me of Douglas Adams....there should be another picture, with Antares microscopic, and a huge circle labelled 'me'!

Just add a Black Hole about the size of Pluto to crush all those giants as Hawking would've had us believe into... Nothing, if they ever got close enough to one.

I heard he revised his conclusion of Information loss back to Information remains when it came to the his theory on Black Holes.

Neat size comparison.

Yes, that's right. He involved the holographic principle.

Hey, It's not the size of your planet that matters, but what you do with it that counts...
Stone and Sea are deep in life,
two unalterable symbols of the world;
permanence at rest, and permanence in motion;
participants in the Power that remains.

The IAU disagrees with you.
The definition of "planet" set in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) states that in the Solar System a planet is a celestial body that:

1. is in orbit around the Sun,
2. has sufficient mass to assume hydrostatic equilibrium (a nearly round shape), and
3. has "cleared the neighbourhood" around its orbit.

A non-satellite body fulfilling only the first two of these criteria is classified as a "dwarf planet", which is not a type of planet
which is not a type of planet
not a type of planet
not a planet

I'm with Murrin on this one...if you leave Pluto as a planet...then we now have 13 planets, is it?

When the sun rises, it rises for you.

Yes, for you. Just for you. Only for you. You are it, everything, the whole universe with all the billion galaxies and stars. The separateness you feel is only a mask you have put on to enjoy this human form. Under the mask, your shape is All. How far can you now feel your Self expand? To your parent?... to your child?... to your friend?... to a stranger on a street?... half way around the globe?
~ from one of my favorite Facebook apps.

Don't ask me to explain why I felt that belonged here.
It just feels like it does...

It'd take a special kind of geekiness to make a 'yo momma so fat' joke that made a comparison to Aldebaran.
