definitely getting close. You've got the flatness in the most recent, but I think the head shape is too rectangular? Shorten it top to bottom slightly, broaden it slightly across the cheek area?
You haven't done full body in a while, from what I can tell, maybe broaden both shoulders and hips to get the stocky feel.
Just my 2 cents, but I'm a word guy..my wife is the painter.

Of the three I like 2A but I also agree strongly with what Jeff said about shortening the face.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

When I've read the books, I've always imagined the haruchai, a bit like the warrior-ants in the movie antz - red and similiarly built, only more human in some areas. It's a look that fits them, I feel. Also makes them a bit more alien of a race, but that's nice.

like the right one, only much more human in shape, of course. But similiarly bulky and sharp-edged.

Re: My attempt at a Bloodguard
Dude nice try but totally not even close to my minds eye. There, the Bloodguard have color that radiates from the earth. This gives their features and skin tone defined yet alluring appeal. His features are memorable giving his eyes and lips a definite desire. His hair is the color of obsidian rock and equal to its shine. Perhaps shoulder length, full and straight. (although some men are juicy sweet with that bald head look, not many can pull it off)
His clothing is made from thin animal skin giving definition to his muscular build. His eyes are black with full brows and eyelashes so that we ladies will swoon when he chooses to flutter them in our direction. Yup, you guessed it..
I have some soft spots for Bannor and would share with him any day :>
Keep working on your skill, and put some heart into it, well done. Passion comes from the heart and works its way into our remaining members, ponder this while creating ~ Room

He needs to have short curly brown hair. Stockier build, but not obese. Totally unreadable expression. I think these other folks have it right with the nationalities to compare it to. Looking forward to the final version....
Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

The Sherpa or perhaps a Hindu of some sort. SJD did spend some time in India. I've just always pictured the Bloodguard to look like the people from India. The description seems to fit.
That being said, I really like the last one.

Covenant turned in time to see a short figure detach itself from the burning mud, step queasily onto the hard ground.
The figure was scarcely taller than the skest, and shaped like them, a misborn child without eyes or any other features. But it was made of mud. Flames flickered over it as it climbed from the fire, then died away, leaving a dull brown creature like a sculpture poorly wrought in clay. Reddish pockets embedded in its form glowed dully.

I have done a few trips in Nepal and Tibet and the Himalayan mountain people are indeed the closest thing to the Haruchai that I have met. They are 'capable' in a way that surpasses westerners, unfazeable (is there such a word) and stoic of temperament beyond belief and yes - even in appearance they come somewhat close. I have often wondered if Donaldson had them in mind when he created the charachters.Relayer wrote:Yep. I've always thought of Sherpas, partly because they also live among the high peaks and frozen desolate wastelands.

some of these characters are like opening a can of worms...seems there are alot of differing views on what a bloodguard looks like.. from Brad Pitt/Eric Roberts to Jango Fett, then you have the darkskinned version of Fabio for a few of the girls who want a Sexy Bloodguard... and then the Chronos monster that looks like swamp thing made of stone..
Good Luck Hue Characters are a bitch ..
hehe ... imsurprised no one mentioned Pancharello from CHIPS as bannor
what I truly picture as an almost perfect bloodguard would be Gerry Lopez ...an old pro Hawaiian surfer.. if you dont recognise the name he was Conans Companion in the first movie.
hes too old now but could play Bannor during TPTP

I hear you, go with your own minds eye, its nice to create things that others envision but its always good to have something that satisfies your own views also,I try to revert to the books descriptions for most of my stuff and when i get something out of place or just plain wrong Wayfriend and a few others are pretty good about helping me get things correct as they are described.
there is a version of Korik from... I think its Gildenfire, you can see on the Antgear webpage.. and that version of Korik looks female to me. but your version of a bloodguard looks alot like the illustrations of the bloodguard on ranyhyn, and the Rights of the Haruchai.
heres a link ... the images are pretty big so i used a link instead of an image
