The 5th Annual Florida Bat Festival is the once-a-year opportunity to meet
GIANT flying fruit bats at the Lubee Bat Conservancy. The event is a
day full of educational fun, colorful crafts, and informative displays
by local conservation groups. Come and enjoy music and food while
touring the center and meeting these gentle pollinators of the bat
world!

I put up a bat house in my backyard a few weeks ago, though it probably won't get any occupants until spring.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
