I've always liked that one.

A teeny bit more uplifting to use the whole quote, in my opinion...
CovenantJr wrote:Meh, too much waffle in the full version.
Waffle, is it? Why I oughta....
....mmmm, waffles....
I am more disappointed by the fact that I did not have waffles this morning than I am by the fact that I had a breakfast burrito. It was a good burrito, but there's nothing like an awesome waffle.
When I was going to paralegal school in Denver, I used to love the breakfast burritos from the pushcart guys in LoDo. As a poor student, I couldn't afford them very often, but mmmboy they were tasty.
And I'd better quit talking about food before Menolly starts pimping the Galley again...

Anyway, we had Beorn's IEP meeting this morning, and I saw this quote unattributed on a bulletin board there. After searching, it seems to belong to the Reverand Jesse Jackson, but it is paraphrased in several ways throughout the web. Here is the version I liked the best...
“Never look down on someone unless your are standing over them to help them up.” ~ the Reverand Jesse Jackson
No one is ever going to say on their deathbed “Gee, I wish I had spent more time at the office.”
I really like this one, too. It says a lot with few words.
Just my opinion, but I think Fist's and Menolly's examples are the best kind of quotes for "inspiring" school kids. Unpretentious, simply but effectively worded.
Some people are like slinkies. They are not really good for anything, however, they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
All lies and jest
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest -Paul Simon

Perhaps not the best quote to put up on a classroom wall. But hey.

Miyagi: What matter?
Daniel: I'm just scared. The tournament and everything.
Miyagi: You remember lesson about balance?
Daniel: Yeah.
Miyagi: Lesson not just karate only. Lesson for whole life. Whole life have a balance. Everything be better. Understand?

We don't stop playing because we grow old: we grow old because we stop playing.
My favourite George Bernard Shaw quote is another one that's probably not a good choice for shaping children, unless you're trying to create monsters:
George Bernard Shaw wrote:The longer I live the more I see that I am never wrong about anything, and that all the pains I have so humbly taken to verify my notions have only wasted my time.
