Some Douglas Adams quotes I like:

2. Anything that's invented between when you're fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
One of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them: It is a well known fact, that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. Anyone who is capable of getting themselves into a position of power should on no account be allowed to do the job. Another problem with governing people is people.
Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws.
"Persevera, per severa, per se vera." Persist through difficulties, even though it is hard.

Yes, Steve Jobs's overpriced Apple software/hardware is clearly the road to technological salvation.

I love Douglas Adams, but sorry, as a dedicated Windows PC user, I can't just let that slide by without a reply. :wink: (Yeah, it's my 2:00 AM grumpy mood.)

It is possible, MM, to criticise Bill Gates without having to champion Apple instead. That quote didn't say anything about Steve Jobs.

I am also a dedicated Windows PC user (I can't figure those darn Apple computers out, they make no sense).
I think it makes an interesting point about the technology industry as a whole.

Yeah, it *is* kind of entertaining to me that the guys who put out the "new hotness" are always the guys whose "new hotness" is now "old and busted" -- and usually was "busted" almost immediately upon release. *cough*Vista*cough*

I inferred that Adams was championing Apple, given that he was a Mac user - unless I have my facts wrong. (Which wouldn't be the first time.)

Yes, I know it looks like bad form to be arguing over a dead guy, but if anyone would be vastly amused by my reaction, it would be surely be Adams.

Anyway, sorry for derailing this thread.
