I believe it's possible to find the humanity within *any* human. Donaldson is really good at that, and that's why I love his writing. I'm not opposed to this idea in principle. I'm talking only about execution of a goal. For me, this movie didn't even come close to what SRD pulls off with Angus. I wish that it had. I wish that I was torn and able to feel the queer guilt of caring for a "monster." But for me this one isn't complicated at all. I miss that complexity.
I still think that Angus got off too easy. It's easy for me to judge him and think that he deserved to die and didn't redeem himself. However, in terms of the story, SRD was masterful enough for me to like Angus and feel these judgements at the same time.
