Just so everyone knows, once we are free of the storm, I would like to have a part of the passage where Garrius sees each of his officers who have been foolhardy one by one and addresses any issues they may have had, such as killing the another senior officer in a duel...

If you were all brothers and sisters, you would be in that situation you find yourself in as children, when you have really messed up, and you know daddys gonna be pissed when he gets home, and theres no hiding it...

It presents the issue of one player having more power than everyone else. I play Praetus as though he think he's the most important and really doesn't recognise Garrius' right to command, and as a player, I'm not if there's anything wrong with that.

This is the way I view the game. It's a big reason I was insistent that the RT would have to be new to the job, giving more theoretical power to other players.

In setting terms, the RT could have you all vented out of airlocks (outside the Imperium he is imbued with the authority of a High Lord of Terra, second only to the actual High Lords and the Emperor), but if someone of high authority in the Imperium challenged his motivations (such as an Inquisitor, a Novator, a Governor) then he'd better have seriously good justifications.

Zarkov's situation is a good example. Technically, Garrius could have him demoted for it but, as Zarkov has more respect amongst the crew than Garrius, such a move would be very risky for the RT. Praetus has been pushing his luck a lot, and he shouldn't expect to get away with public insults to the RT without repercussions; on the other hand, the ship will get nowhere without navigators, and the other navigators are likely to back their senior in all things.

I don't want players to worry about being extras in the game, I see all players as equally waited, story-wise.

I think I remember that guy. It's been years since I've watched any of them (but I saw them all). I remember the one in France the most of all, with the French nobleman they are helping who has an obsession with killing his peasants.

I know what you mean. I had this conversation with Stone magnet yesterday. As a player, I loved the whole Duel thing, really dug it and thought it was awesome. But in character, Im pretty sure Garrius would be pissed right off.

Also, I said from day one to Montresor, that in taking on the RT I was paranoid about taking on the responsibility of being the primary decision maker and potentially negatively effecting other players experiences through my decisions.

So yeah, I'd like it to be clear that whilst Garrius thinks the Emperors holy beacon shines from his arse, I don't as a player and please, if I ruin someones gaming experience, let me know as that is not the intention.

I will say however, that the system adds more drama than the typical exploring party system. Internal power struggles, like Praetus and Garrius on the bridge, make for some great reading.

I would just like to point out that, in fact, the reason Andrea has cyber eyes and cyber ears is because her daddy threw her out an airlock at extreme high altitude. The pressure change ruptured her eyes and eardrums.

Montresor can confirm this.

I will say however, that the system adds more drama than the typical exploring party system. Internal power struggles, like Praetus and Garrius on the bridge, make for some great reading.

I completely agree, and the most enjoyment I've had in The Passage so far was reading the interplay between Garrius, Praetus, and Zarkov about the storm and Du Preste.

In one sense, though Zarkov may have messed up by fighting Eyre, he was lucky that he went as far as killing him rather than wounding him. This denies Garrius a decent replacement for Zarkov, and it also denies Garrius someone who would have been all too eager to act against the Lt. Commander. Of course, there's always Alistair Peraton, but he's most likely not quite the man that Eyre was.
