That's a *very* cool picture of the moon, MM!

Fist, those ones of the river are fascinating. Coming from somewhere where there's not a lot of snow I didn't know rivers could do that (end up looking like that). I love it!
And MM: Your photography is always stunning. Those winter ones - ! I like the first best (for me, perfect composition, and it's got an amazing mood to it) but the whole set is stunning. And your moon shot is really cool! I so want to buy a copy of photoshop!

Thank you very much, Sea! And welcome back from wherever you were.
Yes, I love taking shots of hoarfrost. Going out there and seeing such natural beauty makes the cold of winter more bearable for me.
Regarding the moon, with practice anyone can get that shot. All you need is a tripod, a clear night sky, and patience.
Okay, it also helps to have a camera that has full manual control (which your Canon does).
And some image editing program to combine different exposures.
(Some newer cameras have built-in programs that creates HDR images right on the spot for you.)
As for Photoshop, you can always download it. Oops, did I just say that?
I'm no pro user, but I'd be happy to help with Photoshop.
But I don't want to bore you or anyone else with technical stuff either.
Photoshop is pretty overwhelming; I've barely scratched the surface myself. It is one ridiculously powerful piece of software!
(Though it's worth saying that it's always better to have a good source image to work with.)

Spent some time at my favorite beach with Chris, Millie and Moose. Moose gets so excited because when we hit that stretch of road before Rockaway turn off he just knows he's going to the beach and he can smell the ocean and he gets all waggy and his body is tensed and ready to jump out and run in the sand. It's very cute. I didn't get a whole lot of fabulous because I have some dirt issues and looks like it's on the mirror so I need to seriously clean my camera but I did get a few good ones. I also was happy to get the little black bird shots because they always make me think of Lucimay and that makes me smile.

It is a great expression on the bird's face.

It's been a while since I took any pictures. The NH winter hasn't been that great for photo ops. And Athena is now retired after such a short inception. I have no idea what's wrong, but I don't have the monies to get her fixed, so she sits in my closet aloof and cold.
My digital is showing signs of lots of wear now and I vow to get a new one sometime this year.
BUT, we had a rare day of over 60 degrees here and I went with my family to America's Stonehenge! If you don't know about this little not-so-well-known tourist spot, read about it here. It's in Salem, NH and used to be called Mystery Hill. It's said H.P. Lovecraft developed his inspiration for writing "The Dunwich Horror" when he went there.
Anyway, I took a couple of BW pics:

Sorry to hear Athena's kaput...but maybe it's for the best. It's really hard to justify the cost of film now. I can understand wanting to use Athena for special occasions - imagine everyone else at a party whipping out their cell phone cameras, and then you bring out a film SLR. Retro chic!
Anway, I had no idea about America's Stonehenge. Salem, NH...okay, the Salem of witch-hunt infamy is in Massachusetts, correct?
Very vivid high-contrast b&w photos!

More or less.....Actually, at this very moment, the four of them are having a contest to try to catch a bug.....Infelice wrote:OMG!!! The kitty is bewfiful!!!! and the puppiessss.
/me loves kitty and puppy pics.
I assume that all animals cohabit in harmony??
It was really cute when the cats were kittens (they're big now), Rocky would carry them in his mouth by the scruff of their neck. He was very gentle about it, and I am really not sure why he did it, but yeah, he would tenderly pick them up and walk around the house with them. Very funny. I tried to train him to bring them to me on command, but he couldn't figure it out.
Anyway, when the cats got bigger, they decided they didn't like smelling like dog slobber all the time, so they started to resist. Rock thinks they are playing, but sometimes the cats get mad. My white cat seems to like being chewed on, but the black one hates it. But Rock never hurts them.
Josie, the black dog, pairs up with the black cat, and they will sleep together sometimes, but mostly they sit close to each other and stare at each other for like thirty minutes at a time. It's weird.
And Rocky and the white cat pair up and Rocky chews on the white one. It's funny.
Oh yeah, the pic of the black cat is one of my favorites. But its hard to get a good pic of the cats and of Josie because they won't sit still. Rocky is a poser, though.
Josie just won the contest; she caught the bug and ate it.
