It's not just the image quality... it's the density of the shots. It seems like every shot has details in the corner, on the sides, behind or in front of the main scene, details that directors with less OCD would have left out...

His vision when making the film was staggering.

Good point about the density. OCD in ordinary day-to-day life may be a bummer, but I guess it helps in artistic pursuits.

I bought The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus yesterday. It was my first Blu-Ray purchase.

I finally got around to seeing Citizen Kane last night. It's an interesting film... in some ways, truly a masterpiece, but the pacing lagged a bit at times. Considering when it was made, it's no wonder it was considered such an achievement.

Overall, I still thought it was a good film, just a little harder to get into than some others.

I just got Park Chan-wook's I'm A Cyborg, But That's OK. He made this one in between Lady Vengeance and Thirst, so my expectations are pretty high.

I just finished watching I'm a Cyborg. One of the weirdest films I've seen in a while, fascinating. Park's quite a skillful storyteller, and his films are often stunning visually.

Dr Horrible's Singalong Blog.

HOW have I missed this until now? Easily one of the funniest things I've ever seen, I just finished watching it twice straight through :)

I'm in love with it myself. And if you've not heard the Commentary - the Musical! track, that's worth the price of the DVD alone.

Joint Security Area, another Park Chan-Wook film. Another brilliant, intelligent film. I've yet to watch anything by Park that isn't. Though my focus on one director makes me wonder if I'm missing out on other Korean cinema that might be just as good...

Just watched The Lost Boys. Definitely one of the better vampire movies I've seen.

I especially like the unrepentant evil of David & Co. It's a nice contrast to not just the Twilight movies, but the Rice ones as well (not that I dislike Ann Rice's work, I just think there's room for variety in life, and we don't need every new vampire movie to copy her just because she was successful).

Awesome. I always loved the Match Game. It and the Gong Show always competed for my favorite game show in the 70's.

Well, now that Pandorum has been swallowed, with no hope for escape, by my 5 DVD player and paid for we're back on the Netflix track having seen Letters to Juliet-quaint, Tuscany's nice too many pregnant pauses ("should I have my hair done?" "What am I doing here?" "Maybe I'll hit the gym...") and Eclipse for Tam and Grace. Thank goodness a movie I want to see is finally on it's way: The Fountain. 8)

The Fountain is a fantastic movie! Kind of hard to follow, the plot jumps across centuries three ways. But that didn't really bother me, I'm a Waking Life fan ;) .

I found the Fountain to be a beautiful film, but annoying to me personally. I'd say if you are a fan of 2001: A Space Odyssey, you'd probably like this one too.
