Oh, hell, and I knew that, but I forgot to mention the Cracker Jack quality toy (and by that, I mean from the days when I was growing up, which means 1970-1980ish when they had things other than cheap-assed stickers like they do these days). But what do I know? I've only ever done the American ones that my mom picked up last year. I'm sure they are not the standard, but I got a cheap plastic car with the molding plastic sticking out.

Of course americans have crackers - you can buy them there so I'm not buying this whole 'never heard of them before' thing - unless you're Canadian
IT'S CHOWDA!
When I think of crackers, I think of a Ritz. Some sort of savory unleavened crispy thing.

the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.

Couldn't agree more. CovenantJr hits the spot exactly. There is almost (but not quite) an element of pathos to the Christmas cracker.
