I have an N64 and a PS2. I never would have chosen the PS2, but it was an insurance job after my N64 was stolen. I picked up N64 bits and pieces on eBay until I had more or less my old cellection back.
That said, I've made peace with my PS2 now. It's one of the earliest ones, so it's over 3 years old. As a DVD player it's dodgy at best and it sounds like a mid sized air conditioning unit, but it has always played games just fine. My current faves are Prince of Persia and Colin McRae 4.
The reason I wouldn't have chosen a PS2 is simple. Compared to it's peers (XBox, GameCube and even the Dreamcast) it is simply an inferior machine. Sony have, once again, outmaneuvered everyone else in the market, and will continue to do so until someone beats them to the punch and releases a next gen console before they can.
It's exactly the same situation as Microsoft vs. Apple, the marketeers saved the day and the inferior machine won (although Apple have got some ground back in recent years).

Q. Why do Communists drink herbal tea?
A. Because proper tea is theft.

Well as I stated before Christmas my daughter requested the GameCube (ProRider514) and thats what she got. I didn't however get the memory card so she can't save her game. I'm ashamed. I will buy one asap. The GameCube is pretty cool. Its better than her N64. Tony Hawk looks terrific (aside fron the potty mouth characters in the game)

His response: "Holy $&!^. He's not kidding! Look at all these muffins!"

I picked up my old Super Nintendo from my mum's place at Christmas, only to discover both controllers were knackered. I got one from ebay, and now I'm back in business! Secret of Mana, Terranigma (that one was going for £102 on ebay! ), Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Sim City (the original one)...Baradakas wrote:a Super Nintendo (the greatest system EVER MADE!)
