Auschwitz Bitz resurfaces after over 24 years

Post by Lord Zombiac »

This is the only surviving audio recording of my first professional band Dogfish.
We recorded this on eight track tape in Austin with only vocal overdubs-- at the time we were practicing once a week and playing out two or three nights a week, so we were incredibly tight.
Nothing we ever recorded was good enough for the other band members so we sat on a lot of stuff and eventually lost it.
One of the engineers snuck us into Riverside Studios where Willie and SRV had recorded, and we did a whole album on 2" reels for free-- gone! All gone.
Happily, three of us are up for an online re-union (we live in New Mexico, Virgina, and Oregon, and none of us are wealthy). We can't find our drummer, possibly the only punk rock drummer in history to be in the band for it's entire career, never miss a practice, and never show up late for a gig.
here's the group's web page:
barbarianclan.com/music/dogfish.html
and here's where you can buy/listen:
barbarianclan.com/music/auschwitzbitz.html
Stay tuned, in less than three weeks I will receive my DVD copy of a VHS tape I shipped off to walmart and I will have brilliant live performances posted!!!!!

reminds me of my youth. :)

some Jello Biafra type vocals - the band does sound tight. i can not believe they didn't think this was good enough to release.

Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

that's mean, you could easily switch labels and it would be the same.

I brought some dried anchovies to band practice from the oriental market and told everyone to dig in.
When asked what they were, I noted their appearance and replied, "Auschwitz Bitz, the wholesome oat cereal that's shaped like concentration camp victims."
