Funny that watching others knit makes you fidgety. I have seen that effect on people too -- but it's usually somebody who knows how to knit, who then says, "Aaaugh, you're making me want to pick up my needles and make something!"
(Being over 50, I don't think my eyesight is good enough to take up tatting. Kudos to your wife. 
) My mom knew how to knit, but she preferred crochet. She taught me how to crochet but I wasn't very good at it and didn't stick with it. I learned how to knit by buying a book a few years back.Sarge, my handwriting sucks these days. Too much time on the computer, and not enough practice with a pen.
