I may be the last person on earth that is still looking forward to this game's release. However it was cool to find the trailer to remind me how cool Duke is/was. Still no release date yet though. *FURIOUS*

I'm staggered that this game is actually still being made.
Hmmm. An excessively long development cycle. A complete switch to a new game engine in mid-stride, abandoning what had already been done. Lots of hype. Cool-looking trailers that promise a lot. Sporadic announcements that "it'll be done when it's done."
Sound familiar? All that's missing from the picture are scandalous reports of budget overruns, firing of staff and/or staff quitting en masse.
How's this: DUKE NUKEM has the same number of letters as DAIKATANA.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.

See that was always how I viewed it. I kept playing custom maps of Duke3d long after the game was utterly obsolete. It's just fun. I think 3dRealms have kind of gone overboard with trying to make sure the new version is simply amazing. I'd like that too but as long as Duke is Duke I don't really care if the graphics are state of the art or not. I hope this is no different.

Wow. I thought humans would evolve before this game came out.
Oh well, at least it hasn't taken as long as Brian Wilson's Smile. Part of me aches to see this game never released, because that trailer does not live up to my now-legendary expecatations of Duke. 10+ years, if nothing, will make you feel as if the work has been painstakingly made, taking some of its punch out.
Then again, I've excessively enjoyed Half-Life 2, and I had more expectations for it than Duke, to be honest.

I always found Duke a bit of an irritant, but liked some of the old platform versions of him. The gameplay was fun, but he annoyed me. Then again, it took a while for the Evil Dead movies to set in on me as well.

It wasn't until I received an XBOX360 for my birthday a month ago that I was able to download and tryout the demo for Duke Nukem Forever.
My first impression was...WTF?
I see where they are going with DNF but it seems like kind of a mess. The game play is a bit klunky, the graphics are kind of off and they've amped up the crude/rude content to a point where I was actually a little embarrassed that my wife was watching me while I played it.
I'm guessing that if I owned the full version and really dived into it I might find that the game is at least partly what I've been waiting for for over a decade. But probably not.
I might pick it up at Gamestop if a used copy is cheap enough.
My official review as a long time, die hard DN fan is...meh.
