Dust off your Edgetar!

Post by aliantha »

Or your Jaytar or Foultar.

It's summer (or winter, if you live an inverted life ;) ), and time to get a little nostalgic for those bygone days when Edge made a bunch of folks avatars. Some of us have never sported anything else since <ali raises her hand>, and some have had multiple changes.

Just for fun, for those of us who have 'em, let's dust off our Edgetars (or their cousins) and wear 'em for a week or so. Here -- I'll start!

I dug up the old Edgetar topic to have a look around, and apparently right on the first page I got a Jaytar. I had completely forgotten this, and don't know what it looked like. :?

Hell, I can't remember having an avatar at all before Sir Didymus. Anyone remember?

What if I don't own an Edgetar to dust off? May I dust off one of yours? Preferably aliantha's)

Have to say, of the Edgetars, I think Jay's (kevinswatch) is one of the best. I also liked dAN's old lion one.

Edit: Hmm, saw Soulbiter's in the old thread, very nice.

Looked at that thread, the actual link to your Jaytar is members.aol.com/ewjim4/av_murrin.gif - maybe it doesn't show up because of being password protected. ewjim4 looks like the account name - whose could it be, Jay's?

Yeah, could be an expired account, though.

While not all of these are my Edgetars, they are all Edgetars that were made at my request...

...the link I have to Odin's is no longer working.

Now I wish I'd had an Edgetar. I've actually been without an avatar for most of my Watch career, except for a couple of years where I was Helena Cain. And she suits my mood, so I'm going to join the spirit of the avatar nostalgia thing.

If you'd like a custom one with something, I can try to make it. And if mine sounds too scary, a few other people stated being ready to make them, if I'm not mistaken, lorin and Frostheart.

I noticed Danlo's Avatar changed:

I like it a lot. Is it an Edgetar?

Btw Ali, nice idea. It gives as recent arrivals a glimpse at the history of the Watch.

I seem to have lost the file, though I'm not sure it'd work with the new specs (it was 200x150). To the best of my knowledge, however, I am the only person on the Watch who has a tattoo of his Edgetar.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
