2011 Watchie Categories

Post by [Syl] »

OK, it's on.

Please mention any categories you want to see for this (last) year's Watchies. Keep in mind that we're doing this in July and haven't been using the Spotlight thread to keep track of possible nominations, so please try to name categories that are big and bold. I don't think it's a good idea to do individual forums, except for Dissections and one catch-all Best Post and Best Thread in an SRD Forum.

Perennial favorites that I will bring back this year are:

Best Avatar (image, not the admin)
Best Signature
Best Title
Best Post (non-SRD)
Best Thread (non-SRD)
Best Debate (Tank, Close, whatever)
Best Poem
Best Prose
Best User-created Image
Best Pic (Gallery)
Watcher of the Year
Newbie of the Year
Moderator of the Year (including admins, I suppose)
Funniest Watcher
Most Kind
MIA Watcher of the Year

Any others, put 'em here. Please do not include who you think should get which. That will come later. Also, when it comes time to nominate members for the categories, I will not include any category that does not have at least two nominees, so try to name things that will actually be contended.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Also, I'm sure I'll be repeating this later on, but know that I run a tight ship. Posts that do not follow directions will be split, moved, or possibly just deleted. In this thread, that means anything that isn't discussing a Watchie category. That may sound harsh, but keep in mind, I have to comb through these threads to pull out the nominations. The more chatter, the harder it is.

Best mallorys game, I would add. Just like the debates, the games are different from normal threads.

If there is to be a Best Game Thread, should it include both Gravin Threndor and Mallory? Or should these be separate?

Very different game styles, says one school of thought. All games though, says another.

I agree with nuller. The two thingies seem very different and I can't say I ever read that forum more than once or twice while trying to understand what it was. So best roleplay game or post category might be good, too, I think.

Yup, also agree.

What does MIA mean please? I keep seeing it but cannot fathom it out!

Thanks, Savor Dam. That's what my daughter said it meant, but I didn't think it made sense. :?
