The release of the Avengers gives WB a golden opportunity: they can take a look at the movies leading up to it (Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor, Captain America, Incredible Hulk), look over the scripts, examine the marketing techniquest, etc. and see what Marvel Studios did correctly--then emulate it--and, more importantly, see what they did badly--and avoid doing that.

Ideally, they will make sure that Man of Steel moves away from Christopher Reeve-style Superman movies (I enjoyed Mr. Reeve's work but we need to move beyond him and add some new dimensions to the character) and, for pity's sake, can we get some villain other than Lex Luthor or General Zod?

Again, I wouldn't make another Batman movie--we've all been there and done that far too often, making the character old and stale.

I do recommend that they make another GL movie but tone down the "wild and reckless" a little--it might have worked against the first villain but Sinesto won't fall for it (he's far too calm and collected for that). I also recommend that they introduce Guy Garner (a fan favorite) but don't make him the focus of the movie.

They should definitely produce a Flash and Wonder Woman movie, both of which tie in to a JL movie. Only then will it be ready to release.

I cannot iterate this enough, though--the number one thing that will maximize the likelihood that they could meet or beat the Avengers would be 1) the right scriptwriters and 2) the right director. Actors? Meh. A good script and a good director can bring a good performance out of even a mediocre actor.

edit: I forgot to add that it looks like there will be a really good launch of Green Arrow (even though they dropped the "green" out of the name) on TV soon. If it does well enough, I would recommend them adding that actor and character to any JL movie.

I liked Ben's work on the Town. I thought he handled the action scenes well.

So...that movie project is starting off with disaster. Having his name tied to the project is going to kill it from the start.

He might be a better director than an actor. He couldn't be worse.

From what I hear he's a good director. But his reputation could damage the film anyway.

I wasn't questioning his skill as a director; rather, I was questioning the idea of his name being linked to the project at all. That alone is going to make some people--like me--raise a skeptical eyebrow.
