Enjoyed that (no criticism - not a guitar player apart from basic chords). Do you know the one that starts Like a Bird on a Wire? Friend of mine had an LP of his in the 60s and we used to listen to that one over and over again.

A lot of Cohen's songs has similar chord progressions.
I thought you were a ripe grape
a cabernet sauvignon
a bottle in the cellar

Yes, so did the late 50s early 60s stuff - 1,4,5 and back to 1 again (tonic, subdominant, dominant, tonic).

I've heard him in n interview, saying that it was 50's and 60's pop music that inspired him.

Although he obviously added his poetic touches, and slowed everything down.

That's why most of his songs have female back-up singers. They are his versions of Doo-Wopp singers.
