Classics Illustrated, First Comics

Seperate from the original run that began publication in 1941 and finished its first run in 1971. (179 issues)

this is the First Comics series that went 27 issues from '90-'91.

that last one is illustrated by my favorite comic book artist - John K Snyder III, as is this one that I want desperately. :)

it is a shame that First went out of business. I would love to seen who they had lined up to do which classics. with the success of Marvel's recent Wizard of Oz adaptation and DC's still-going-strong Fables, the market seems to be there.

my love for these goes back to grade school when my mom signed me up for a digest size Classics Illustrated that came via mail. I loved those things. and I ended becoming a fan of writers like Poe and Hawthorne because of it.
