Green SPACE rabbit, brainwashing Toad TV - Bucky O'Hare!

Post by Lefdmae Deemalr Effaeldm »

As his crew member, robot Blinky, likes to say, "Calamity and woe!"

Not a word on the whole Watch about the most awesome green rabbit. Or hare. Well, that's a separate story on its own. For now just a little to start with, because I can go on with this topic for really some time.

A comics and a cartoon feature the story of a parallel universe with anthropomorphic animals. At some point the toads decided to make an AI to run their planet.

From a certain point of view that was a success. The AI turned out to be a real government in the spirit, and so proceeded to brainwash its subordinates and make them conquer whatever was around, turning everything into swamps.

A particularly nice feature is the Toad TV. It may depend on the kind of sense of humor, but it's quite an entertaining thing to watch a bit of it and then just turn on the regular TV and compare.

The characters of the story turn out to be in quite a situation, especially since their problems are far not limited to the brainwashed toads and their TV. The United Animals may be quite a problem on their own, supposedly helping, but actually organizing more problems.

Oh, and SPACE is Sentient Protoplasm Against Colonial Encroachment.

Though I don't mind actually finding out being relatives, not to make it just a guess in the dark, I have to hold my judgement on that until Sarge posts something in the dissection threads  - I mean something fitting there, of course :)

And back to the topic a bit - I may be biased because of the endless hours I've spent having fun (that is, getting killed thousands of times, over and over again) with the game based on this story kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22062 , and even after that I see a lot of downsides.

But a story about a rabbit from an alternate universe who fights toads controlled by the TV that shows endless ads, soap and other intellectually stimulating things is at least not something you come across every day.

Exactly not that)

Those "funny" animals are most funny when they remind of a certain other species.

One that also has TV that shows endless ads and sucks the brains away, politicians that were theoretically supposed to do good, but do more harm, if not only harm, bureaucrats that obstruct everything with useless paperwork, and just generally people who refuse to think with their own heads.

How should I understand this? That now you actually advise me to surround myself with funny animals? Or do you mean only Captain Carrot specifically?

Interesting, he has the same name as one of Terry Pratchett characters, a coincidence?

And as for my opinion for now - had a look at this rabbit, by the looks of it he and the other characters from his story are actual funny animals, while the ones from the Bucky's story are rather on the weird side

I've seen this person's messages on the watch, a pity there are no fresh ones

Reanimated Corpse Pie. mmm tasty.

Some real Bucky O'Hare feel) The cartoon had, for instance, an ad of a sticky wallpaper with live flies sticking to it and gathered with a tongue, robotic claws cleaning a toad's toenails, scantily clothed warty toad ladies etc)

Yes, it's its perhaps main feature) And the thing you mentioned about the poster with that name is something I've seen about more people. The story is mostly seriously liked by people that are odd, up to weird, with tendency to think outside the box etc.

No wonder actually. Though it does have a Star Wars-like action plot, it's in many places rather a parody on living to consume, refusing to think with one's own head and the like. Looks like a good parody for some, unpleasant for some others, but many just watch and don't see. Exactly the ones that could use understanding that most, of course.

Like in this joke about boxing.

:goodpost: :)

Thanks for that one, I like the idea and stories about people being their own worst enemies. It's a concept hard to grasp for some, and, I think, a very important one.

Until Sarge nominated this thread for a Watchy, I never knew it existed...but it certainly provides a lot of context for one of Effie's entries last year in the Survivor: Sarangrave game in Win Wayfriend's Money.
