What Class Are You?

Post by Iolanthe »

Apparently I'm Traditional Working Class. Well, 3 of my grandparents were in service. Most of the description was correct, older generation, home owner, and I mix with people like myself. It's a short poll and just a bit of fun. It won't change my life. I never did like mushy peas.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

New affluent workers
This class group is sociable, has lots of cultural interests and is in the middle of all the class groups in terms of wealth. According to the Great British Class Survey results, lots of people in this group:

funny, I don't feel affluent

Technical middle class apparently, though hard to do currency convert without factoring in cost of living. And also having one scientist friend can really throw the statistics out :-) (Most of my friends occupations weren't listed and/or I don't have enough friends!)

New Affluent.

I don't really trust the thing. I did the calculations based on my parents and got Established Middle Class, which they're anything but.

How the H-E-double hockey sticks did I get this???
Elite

This is the wealthiest and most privileged group in the UK. According to the Great British Class Survey results, lots of people in this group:

Enjoy high cultural activities such as visiting museums and listening to classical music (well, yeah)
Went to private school and elite universities (nope)
Socialise with people who do a wide variety of jobs (of course, when I do socialize. as Depeche Mode says: "People are People.")

Heh...I'm with Menolly here. The weighting must be seriously screwed up. [or weighted in a way that just doesn't apply to the U.S.]

Throw me in, as well. I prefer to see myself as intelligent and modest, rather than educated poor :)
