Feeling bummed out today, for no good reason I can think of. Just feels like I'm in a holding pattern, and not making progress on anything. Bleah. ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

Argh, Sarge. Feel better soon!
So I won a Judge's Choice award for one of my book covers in the BookGoodies Cover Contest. Just found out tonight. I get a sticker with which to junk up my award-winning cover.
And some free advertising at the site, I think.

Recuperating.
Did someone mention eye problems…
Yesterday, I had surgery to correct a problem with my eye. My cornea rather than being concave shaped was more of a cone. It's a problem that doesn't get better with age. In extreme cases a cornea transplant is required and a lifetime to taking anti rejection drugs. Mine wasn't so severe. Braces were placed in it to try to push it into a more normal position. It'll take a couple of months for the vision to stabilize, but already it is much better than what it was. It couldn't have got much worse...
Now I look kind of foolish though. (Not that I normally don't.) There is no longer any need for my right lens. So they popped it out and until I get a temporary clear glass, I'm walking around with a pair of glasses with one lens. I should wrap some tape on the bridge of my glasses.
On another front, being home today enabled me to wait for the guy from the cable company to show up to swap out my internet cable modem. That had been annoyingly turning itself on and off about every 10 minutes.

Don't ya just love it when a modem starts to go south? ![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)
Glad to hear you're on the mend, Damelon.
I would definitely go with tape on the bridge of your glasses. In fact, swing by the craft store and pick up some decorative duct tape. ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

I meant to reply to this as I read it when I was sick/busy, but didn't have time to post. I've had the same experience. Some people I became great friends with started as people I did not particularly like (and who did not like me). I once even dated a guy for some time who, on meeting him, I really did not like at all.Mongnihilo wrote:I should also point out that some of the people I esteem most highly in life are people I once despised, sometimes for lengthy periods. Some people have a hard shell, but once you break through it, the reward far outweighs the trouble. I suspect you might fall into that category too.

The thought of eye braces makes me cringe a little. I have an overly sensitive blink reflex, which rules out contacts and the like, let alone anything that intrusive. Glad it's an improvement though!

It wasn't really all that bad. They gave me valium to relax and they numbed the eye. The incisions were done by laser. Though the inserts were done by hand. Aside from having to hold my neck and shoulder in an uncomfortable position for what seemed a rather long period of time while the laser was making its cuts, (That tested my mind's capacity to focus.
) it was relatively easy to go through.
I wore contacts for a time years ago as well. I may go back to them, I have a hard time finding sunglasses.
Congrats on the award, Ali!
Hope your headaches go away, Sarge.
