I'd have a hard time seeing that transformation, without something Vain-like for them. Remember, Fire Lions is just the Lords' way of describing the lava flow. I don't think the FLs themselves are even aware, but are more tools of the Land (esp. Mount Thunder) itself.

Besides, the Elohim bound the Skurj with Kasty's Durance. How would that fit in the timeline of the Land, with the FLs being summoned to save (earlier) Berek and (later) the New Lords?

I just made a poll question about the Firelions because of this thread.
But when I went back to this thread, I read your post Rigel.
Your comments sound a lot like what I posted.
I can't remember if I read your post before or after my poll creation though so I'm going to give you credit for the idea.
Thanks!

Rigel has made some good points. it may be that the Fire Lions are from the natural order in accordance with Earthpower.

Now the skruj may be a bane that Foul placed within the world at it's beginning thus making the Elohim appointing Kastenessen to hold in abeyance.

Does anyone else see a sort of resemblance between Sandgorgons, Merewives, and Firelions/Skurj? Like maybe there should be a forth creature/being that exemplifies Air?
If that were the case, you'd have Earth, Water, Fire and Air - you'd still be short one - Heart! (Goooo Planet!)

I've got no doubt that the Fire Lions are Earthpower Incarnate. In my imagination the Skurj kinda look like those ceremonial Dragons, but not made of crepe paper taped over hessian.

We've learned in FR that the Fire-Lions are running around Mt Thunder, agitated. It doesn't seem likely that they and the skurj are the same thing. In fact, I see a cage match in the future. Fire-Lions vs skurj.
