Considering that we last left Loras as a burned, bloody mess, I really hope we don't get another maimed knight perspective. Jaime has given us enough of that.

The Hound, if still alive (as the speculation goes . . . I tend to agree) isn't with Arya anymore. So there's nothing stopping him from having his own story separate from her. I think it would be really cool if he actually ended up protecting Sansa. He's in the general area, if the speculation is right. Maybe he'll team up with Brienne (who, as the speculation goes is still alive, too. Man these fake deaths are starting to get old). Maybe they'll even fall in love. Butt-ugly woman and burnt-ugly man, both on a mission to save the children. Nice fit.

As long as we get back to Jon and Tyrion, that's all that matters to me. There aren't many characters left to cheer for. Bran would be a nice addition, too.

Ned stark was always my favourite character, and I have doubts to whethers he's dead or not. When he gets be-headed and sansa is watching she says something like "His face was so gaunt and thin that it almost didn't look like my father".
She also doesn't think it looks like him when joff shows her his head all tar-ed up on a spike.

I should start a thread on this.

If what you say is true about Ned, it would crush the entire series. Martin's career is built on dead Ned's head. That was the moment when you knew this mutherfocker was serious. No one and nothing was safe. All bets were off.

Sure, Martin has softened this a bit by resurrecting Lady Stark. But if he undermined it any further, it would cut off the legs of this series.

Nice. Very nice.

And I totally agree with you. One of Martin's strengths is the way he produces a real air of jeapordy and danger. If Ned (or any other major "dead" character) is revealed to actually be alive, it undermines that in a big way.

On Amazon.com, they have Dance with Dragons available in September but Martins website says nothing.
The King has one more move.

Not a surprise. GRRM has said that the "release dates" on amazon and the like are just speculation. We can probably expect it to be published about six months after he posts "It is done" on his website. Which shows no sign of happening soon........

But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Why do I have a feeling that I'm going to be collecting my pension before George Martin gets this book out.

I think I'll be going to the local Cine-Plex to watch The Illearth War- The Leper Fights Back before this book comes out.

I told Bob to nag Martin at the WFC. :P I also told him that if he ever runs into Mercedes Lackey at any cons to tell her to give me back my five bucks and those hours of my life I wasted reading her crappy writing.

Martin may well finish A Dance With Dragons (within the next 2 years or so), but I betcha he'll die of a stroke before finishing the series.

DANCE has now passed A CLASH OF KINGS to become the second longest volume in the series, though still three hundred pages shorter than the monster that was A STORM WITH SWORDS.

A Storm With Swords?

Did I read the wrong book? Mine was called A Storm Of Swords :)

And speaking of A Storm of Swords... I just finished that book last night. WOW! What an incredible book! I have heard that Feast for Crows drops off in quality, but it could drop quite a bit and still be a good book :)
