I've always liked that one.

A teeny bit more uplifting to use the whole quote, in my opinion...

Yeah, it's a great one. Along the same lines, although I have no idea who said it:
No one is ever going to say on their deathbed “Gee, I wish I had spent more time at the office.”
All lies and jest

And disregards the rest

I am more disappointed by the fact that I did not have waffles this morning than I am by the fact that I had a breakfast burrito. It was a good burrito, but there's nothing like an awesome waffle.

I think...

When I was going to paralegal school in Denver, I used to love the breakfast burritos from the pushcart guys in LoDo. As a poor student, I couldn't afford them very often, but mmmboy they were tasty.

And I'd better quit talking about food before Menolly starts pimping the Galley again... ;)

You're handling the pimping just fine, ali. :grinlove:
What was it you were saying the other day about getting the minions to take over in the kitchen? ;)

Anyway, we had Beorn's IEP meeting this morning, and I saw this quote unattributed on a bulletin board there. After searching, it seems to belong to the Reverand Jesse Jackson, but it is paraphrased in several ways throughout the web. Here is the version I liked the best...

“Never look down on someone unless your are standing over them to help them up.” ~ the Reverand Jesse Jackson

I like it, Menolly!

I really like this one, too. It says a lot with few words.

Just my opinion, but I think Fist's and Menolly's examples are the best kind of quotes for "inspiring" school kids. Unpretentious, simply but effectively worded.

Oo very good. :) They probably won't recognize the names, but the quotes are great.

Then as long as GT keeps running, may its players never grow old... :grinlove:

Some people are like slinkies. They are not really good for anything, however, they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Perhaps not the best quote to put up on a classroom wall. But hey.

I put this one up today:

Karate Kid:
Miyagi: What matter?
Daniel: I'm just scared. The tournament and everything.
Miyagi: You remember lesson about balance?
Daniel: Yeah.
Miyagi: Lesson not just karate only. Lesson for whole life. Whole life have a balance. Everything be better. Understand?

My favourite George Bernard Shaw quote is another one that's probably not a good choice for shaping children, unless you're trying to create monsters:
George Bernard Shaw wrote:The longer I live the more I see that I am never wrong about anything, and that all the pains I have so humbly taken to verify my notions have only wasted my time.
