Probably bad phrasing on my part - I meant that it didn't happen to the extent that it happened in the UK. On the second...I can get behind that, for the most part. They had a veneer of glam-look. But the material/ideas beneath...not really all that glam.

The late 80s was definitely a pale shadow of what went on in the 70s. I found it all rather fake.
