Indeed a sad day. I was just 17 when Space Oddyssey was a hit here and he's been around ever since.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Still having difficulty absorbing this. Not a huge fan of Bowie's, but his influence is undeniable.

I heard the news today...on the way to work. Very sad; he was and still is a big inspiration for me.

Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

Listened to two of my three favourite Bowie albums on the way to work and back today. "Ziggy Stardust" (of course) and "The Man Who Sold The World" which to me is an early masterpeace yet to be equalled.

"All The Madman", "After All", "Saviour Machine", "She Shook Me Cold" - absolutely intense, insane, but yet profound stuff. The third album would be "Space Oddity" with the outstanding "Cygnet Committee".

But his latest album also is a killer and the heartbreaking video clip to "Lazarus" - now knowing what he already did when filming it - turns out to be the most disturbingly touching way of saying good bye to your fans since Queen's "Show Must Go On".

Heh. That's what I did yesterday. Ziggy, Let's Dance, and Never Let Me Down. With an Under Pressure thrown in.

I have changesonebowie around somewhere. It's rather essential, I would think - how could this happen?

Saw David live just one time, in Foxboro, on the Glass Spider tour. Really good show; really bad seats. The sound was about 2 seconds behind the lips on the Jumbotron ... I remember Bowie proclaiming "This is the last time I'm playing this old stuff!"

The Man Who Sold The World is one of my favorites.

I'm sorry I never got to see him live.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

I saw the Lazarus clip the other day. What an amazing thing to do - fitting, I think, a perfect way for Bowie to say goodbye.

was very saddened to hear of his passing.

a few (or more) years ago Julie was at the magazine stand and saw one that had a David Bowie cd in it. only six songs on it, but very enjoyable. my favorite off of that...

I've always rather liked this one:

MODERN LOVE
(Written by David Bowie)

I know when to go out
And when to stay in
Get things done

I catch a paper boy
But things don't really change
I'm standing in the wind
But I never wave bye-bye
But I try, I try
There's no sign of life
It's just the power to charm
I'm lying in the rain
But I never wave bye-bye
But I try, I try
Never gonna fall for

(Modern love) walks beside me
(Modern love) walks on by
(Modern love) gets me to the church on time
(Church on time) terrifies me
(Church on time) makes me party
(Church on time) puts my trust in God and man
(God and man) no confessions
(God and man) no religion
(God and man) don't believe in modern love

It's not really work
It's just the power to charm
I'm still standing in the wind
But I never wave bye bye
But I try, I try
Never gonna fall for

(Modern love) walks beside me
(Modern love) walks on by
(Modern love) gets me to the church on time
(Church on time) terrifies me
(Church on time) makes me party
(Church on time) puts my trust in God and man
(God and man) no confessions
(God and man) no religion
(God and man) don't believe in modern love

(Modern love) walks beside me
(Modern love) walks on by
(Modern love) gets me to the church on time
(Church on time) terrifies me
(Church on time) makes me party
(Church on time) puts my trust in God and man
(God and man) no confessions
(God and man) no religion
(God and man)don't believe in modern love

Modern love (modern love)
Modern love (modern love)
Modern love (modern love)
Modern love (modern love)
Modern love (modern love)
Modern love (modern love)
Modern love (modern love)
Modern love (modern love)
(Modern love)
(Modern love)
(Modern love)
(Modern love)
Modern love, walks beside me

Wow, this week's Hearts of Space transmission is beautiful. I'll admit that I am not a big fan of Bowie, so I have not heard most of these before. This may make me more of a fan; I'll have to check out the three mentioned albums.
Hearts of Space wrote:THE SINGULAR ENGLISH POP STAR DAVID BOWIE died in the early days of 2016. His 50-year career at the frontiers of popular music drew thousands of heartfelt tributes from around the world. Loved for his fearless creativity as much as his elegance and personal style, Bowie inspired generations of other musicians (and fans) to follow their muse, get outside the box, and dance on it.

One of the lesser-known chapters of the Bowie story happened in 1977, when he moved to Berlin and began collaborating with another brilliant Englishman: music producer, godfather and name-giver of modern Ambient music, BRIAN ENO.

The so-called "Berlin trilogy" of albums: LOW, HEROES, and LODGER were the result. Like everything else Bowie did, they bear his unique creative stamp: innovative, provocative and, for the time, appropriately dark, while still accessible to his fans.

On this transmission of Hearts of Space from guest producer, HOS production manager and Bowie super fan JOSEPH JACOBS, we revisit this special chapter in the Bowie story, on a program called MOSS GARDEN: A DAVID BOWIE AMBIENT RETROSPECTIVE.
Streaming for free until midnight Sunday with free account on the Hearts of Space site.

Agreed that it's touching and disturbing.
