The songs were lyrically directly (almost) from the book...the Old version changed them quite a bit.
I thought you were a ripe grape
a cabernet sauvignon
a bottle in the cellar
the kind you keep for a really long time

I finally watched this one recently. In plot, it did seem a lot closer to the book than the older version. :)

I'm not sure that the "flash back" sequences of Wonka's past really added anything to the story, though. :? On the other hand, seeing Count Duku/Saruman as a dentist was worth more than a few giggles. :lol:
