This is a question that needs answering. What time frame are we looking at, Syl? I'm assuming for now that we're only nominating stuff from the past year, though that begets its own problems. How does the "Best Avatar" award fit into this scheme? Some members have had the same avatar for a long time, while others have changed theirs several times over the course of the year. Which ones qualify? Do we just look at current avatars? That is, current since the creation of this thread? If that's the case, then we've just disqualified some excellent avatars (like Jay's classic "Rainimation" av) that have come and gone in the past year. On the other hand, maybe it's not fair to allow in the running avatars that are no longer in use. (This problem also applies to Best Title and Best Signature.)onewyteduck wrote:Is there a time frame we need to look at? You said you would start taking ballots on November 7.......is it 11/07/04 through 11/06/05, just 2005?
Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway), the Best Chapter Dissection category by its nature is outside any time frame restrictions.
Best Topic seems just as thorny to me, if we're going with topics from just the past year. A topic begun last November would obviously qualify. But let's say there was a good topic that was started prior to November, but replies to that topic extend into November. Or let's say there was a really old but good topic that got revived and whose replies now extend into the November time frame. What qualifies and what doesn't?Spring wrote:Best topic would be nice. 'Best Post' is a very broad spectrum.
Hope everyone takes my comments as constructive criticism. Maybe I'm taking this thing way too seriously, but I think it's important to establish the criteria for nominations as clearly as possible right now to avoid confusion and misunderstanding. (:cough: anthology :cough:)

I think MM raised some valid points that need to be addressed if this thing is going to happen. Do we count topics before the year period, but remained active into this year?
I vote keep it simple. Anything that occurred this year is fair game. So a topic started last year but that is still active is a no.

I have your friends! give up!Mr Ed
A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
and no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ed.
Go right to the source and ask the horse
he'll give you the answer that you'll endorse.
He's always on a steady course.
Talk to Mr. Ed
People yakkity yak a streak and waste your time of day
But Mister Ed will never speak unless he has something to say.
A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
and this one'll talk 'til his voice is hoarse.
You never heard of a talking horse?
Well listen to this.
"I am Mister Ed."
My sneakieness is only surpassed by my cunning.CovenantJr wrote:SneakyQWarmark wrote:I win Queeaqueq
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.
