I am a wino. Reds my friends, bring on the reds.
If I am drinking hard alcohol then a nice single malt scotch aged 15 years or more is my first choice. A nice tequila would be my second choice and Bombay and Tonic my third.
I also appreciate good beers. Depending on my mood it's either a nice Kirin Ichiban ice cold or Guinness or Chimay red label.
For non alcoholic drinks, my fave is Blenheim's red cap ginger ale.

I'm personally a fan of mixed drinks like the aforementioned high-end margaritas and cocktails like Mai Tai, or anything that's fruity and rather sweet. I'm pretty partial to things with rum in them.
I'm developing a taste for wines (slowly) though so far that only extends to sweet and semi-sweet red wine. I love Velvet Red from St. James Winery.
Having said that, I have a drink about once a month or every second month, and almost never have more than one. I take medication for migraine prevention and am not supposed to drink period because of it.
My beverage of choice on day to day basis is Diet Pepsi. I keep thinking about giving up soda, but haven't gotten really serious about it. I know it's bad for my body, but I just can't seem to get motivated to change that habit yet. Listen to me. . . I sound like an addict!

Being Jewish, I grew up with four 'glasses' (I think technically they were crystal stemmed cordial glasses, as they were tiny) of sweet concord grape wine at the Passover seders. Truthfully? I still prefer that over most other wines...Wyldewode wrote:I'm developing a taste for wines (slowly) though so far that only extends to sweet and semi-sweet red wine. Wow, the ONLY mention of a truly world-class beer in this entire thread. Yet, I'm confused that you put it anywhere near a Guinness or Ichiban. (Or the words, "ice cold," for that matter.)Cameraman Jenn wrote: I also appreciate good beers. Depending on my mood it's either a nice Kirin Ichiban ice cold or Guinness or Chimay red label.
I'm a homebrewing beer fanatic. I couldn't possibly narrow it down to one. How about 5?
1. Goose Island Bourbon County Stout
2. Bell's Hopslam
3. Stone's Russian Imperial Stout
4. Great Divide Hercules Double IPA.
And if I'm in the mood for a Belgian beer, rather than Chimay, I prefer
5. Rochefort.

Alcoholic, my faves are ciders of most types but especially Strongbow, Scrumpy Jack, Savanna, and Glastonbury pearcider!
Wines I prefer New Zealand Savignon Blancs.
Spirits - normally Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic with lime and lots of ice, though when in the mood I can be persuaded to try just about everything except chilli tequila.
Might sometimes have a beer on a really hot day - but nothing too beer-y!
Non-alcoholic may fave is a 'Henry' - half and half pure orange juice and lemonade.

Beer has to fit my food, mood and the weather. I like a nice Chimay on a temperate evening with perhaps some homemade beef stroganoff. Kirin goes great with a hot summer night crab feast. Guinness is all about cold evenings and hot beef stew.

I like girly drinks. I can drink a beer after mowing the lawn, but it has to be frigid and I have to gulp it down immediately, or else I'll taste it and then it'll take me an hour to drink it. My ex gave me something like a Seagram's Seven Grape cooler thing that I liked; but that's about the only thing I like that's alcoholic, other than perhaps Miss America.

We like what we like, Menolly! I think I have a bottle of the sweet concord wine in the cabinet (not the kind of thing you display proudly!). I do have one really nice bottle of wine that I'm saving for some special ocassion. It's a 2004 Cabernet Sauvingon from Chile.Menolly wrote:Being Jewish, I grew up with four 'glasses' (I think technically they were crystal stemmed cordial glasses, as they were tiny) of sweet concord grape wine at the Passover seders.
