Well, it made a little more sense before Ylva edited her post (wascally wabbit, you), but the point was that it could have easily turned into a heated debate of men defending their right to be the way they are. It also started to stray away from really being about the Chronicles anymore, and when a subject is this volatile, it's best to move it to a forum where we can usually debate without anybody really getting their feelings hurt. It's a hard line to draw with these books, but those of us who've been around for a while can usually tell when it's about time. We've seen these kind of things rack up casualties. ![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
The idea of the emasculation of the modern male is a very important subject to me anyway (everyone knows I'm a big fan of Fight Club), so I'd love to take it up in the appropriate forum.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.β

well i am not sure that moving it will keep a potentially volatile discussion civil .. but here goes ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/wink.gif)
I guess I missed the tangent taking turn there .. but its still kind of TCTC related .. but no reason not to discuss TCTC here .. in relation to this controversial issue - rape and gender dynamics![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/wink.gif)

women are not responsible for unintended male attention .. particularly in the issue of rape.
Too many women bear a burden of guilt that society places on them for being victims of rape. This phenomenon is exascerbated by the legal system and the nature of the .. supposedly "justice system" .. its a conundrum .. as both the needs of the victim and the accused/perpetrator need to be addressed by these systems.
IN the Land .. and the TC/Lena issue .. it is too enigmatic to address by via an our world frame of reference ..

No, women are not responsible for unintended male attention.
However, just because a guy checks out a woman doesn't mean he's the next thing to a sex criminal.

yeah its not a crime to check someone out ..
but we're not talking about checking out chicks are we? cos if we are .. then there really isnt a problem is there? that hasnt been outlawed yet![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/wink.gif)
by unwanted male attention .. i was being .. perhaps too .. unclear .. i was talking about attention tantamount to that of rape ..
many cry loud about what a women was wearing .. how she was walking or standing .. etc as being provacative .. as if this was satisfactory as an excuse for behaviour such as rape ..
and well .. in reality its not .. but in our legal system with its patriarchal system .. such arguements are still held as valid points in case.

By far the most thorough and insightful post on the subject I know of.

^5. Another Palahniuk fan!
(and it was Starship Troopers, btw
. I enjoyed the book but thought the plot was an excuse for the jurisprudence lecture. Armor by Steakly was a lot more fun. Probably because it was a lot more subtle.)
I can understand how you feel about the Gap vs. The Chronicles. I thought it was a good Sci-Fi arc, but I've never been drawn back to it. Mainly because despite being as big of a fan of Donaldson as I am, I just couldn't quite justify reading the books again.
