Have you been to Gadgetzan yet Damelon? If not, it's recommended (and it's too bad, because you missed out on some great mid-thirties grinding in the Shimmering Flats). Just head south from the Barrens, then southeast through Thousand Needles, and you'll find it.
I'm thinking of trying to grind up some Frostsaber Trainer rep and getting the epic mount. It'd be a big help, since I'm unlikely to raise the 350+ gold I'll need to get my epic through the Paladin quests at level 60.

My friend may transfer his character, a lvl 70 NE hunter, over from the Dalaran server. He doesn't know anyone there anymore; the guy he knew there gave up WoW, or more precisely, his wife made the fellow give up WoW.
(edit) Didn't see your post, Murrin. I haven't been to Thousand Needles yet, isn't there an elevator to get there from the Barrens that's guarded by a couple of horde npc's? I read that once you're on the elevator they leave you alone, but I don't know their level to test the theory.

when i was in my late 20's i got one of those guys fighting with raymond, and then the other joined in and i ran onto the elevator and went down!!
but then they killed ray and one of them chased me down and killed me too, but i resurrected not too far away and thusly found Thousand Needles which i made my way carefully through to finish some Astranaar quest i had i think. i THOUGHT there was a FP down there but now i can't find it.
what is mid-thirties grinding? where is Shimmering Flats?
i have a ton of STV and Marshmellow Marsh quests to finish before i can go anywhere else. urg.

Shimmering Flats is at the opposite end of Thousand Needles. Big open area with loads of creatures around level 35, and a neutral quest hub--Mirage Raceway--where you can pick up loads of quests to kill and gather stuff from those creatures. Great place for levelling up when you're in that range. Gadgetzan is in Tanaris, right in front of you as you come over the pass from Shimmering Flats.
The elevator isn't tough to get to, Damelon--you just make sure you don't stop, and don't hit them with anything. Same as running past any guards (you'll have to do it again in Thousand Needles on the way east, without the elevator to save you). If you have something to bubble you while you run past, it helps. They give up fairly quick, because they're tied to their posts.
I did it a long while back, and Deva did it (alone--I hadn't caught up to him yet) the same day I ran you down to Booty Bay.
(I got flagged when I was running down with Deva, by the guards in Thousand Needles--I stunned one of them to get him off my back. Bad move.)

What you and I have been doing in STV and the Marsh. Refers mainly to the type of quests where you have to kill so many of this, and so many of that.Lucimay wrote:what is mid-thirties grinding?
I've got a couple of quests up north, in the Alterac Mountains, when I'm tired of trying to find tigers. It's been close to a week and I still can't find the first elite tiger in STV. I know about where he's supposed to be, but there's always so many people around killing tigers and trolls. I also went up to Desolace, and have a couple of quests there, but that's as depressing as the Marsh.

The shadow panthers are down south of the venture company goblins along the lake and going east into the hills. They're stealthed, but you can hear them going in and out of stealth. Just listen for the woosh sound and you'll know you're near one. Watch out for the two ogres at the mouth of those ruins. I killed them, but they respawned when I was still there. One of them became resistant to my spells, so I made a break for it and ran for the road.

Argh. I'm currently doing the Linken's Memory quest chain, and it is really geting annoying. Starting from Un'Goro (far south Kalimdor), I've had to go to Winterspring (far north), to Feralas (most of the way south then all the way west), back to Winterspring, to Tanaris, to Un'Goro, and now I'm on my way from there to Felwood. It's costing me a damned fortune in travel (and I haven't bothered to set my hearth to save time because I wasn't sure which places the quests would send me to next).
i FOUND the shadow panthers. i FOUND the young panthers. ITS THE REGULAR OLD PANTHERS I CAN'T FIND. hahahahaa

I'd stick with the Paladin quest. As far as I know, the Frostsaber rep will only get you the mount, NOT the riding skill. Buying the riding skill costs FAR more than 350 gold - about double depending on your rep. Plus, getting to exalted with that faction takes an estimated nine days of grinding. Yes, that's nine 24-hour days. I wanted one; I still want one, but I am not willing to do that. I can help with the gold, and I have done the Dire Maul and Scholomance parts of the quest a couple of times - never as a Paladin, but I can help kill stuff.Murrin wrote:

The regular panthers are around where we were sneaking around to the coast when we were looking for basilisks, remember. We went up that hill that was full of them.Lucimay wrote:i FOUND the shadow panthers. i FOUND the young panthers. ITS THE REGULAR OLD PANTHERS I CAN'T FIND. hahahahaa

Well, I made it down the great lift all right, went west and picked up the flight path at Thalanaar. However, working my way back, I got confused and ran past a horde guard and took the elevator to the top of Freewind Post.

Sorus wrote:Sorry if that sounded overly negative - I did leave out one key fact, which is that once you hit Outland the quest rewards increase exponentially. 350 is absolutely attainable.

The things I've read about the Frostsaber mount all say it's the only Epic you don't need to buy the next level of riding skill for. Hence the thought of using it as an interim mount while I go through the Paladin quest.
And apparently it only takes 42 or so hours of game time now (which, really, is still probably a bit much for trying to get this mount more quickly than the other one).
Anywho, for now I'm on a different Paladin quest: an this one needs me to run Sunken Temple. I have five Sunken Temple quests now, so, anyone up for it sometime?
