"...if you allow the music to penetrate, every track has its appeal."

It's the first time I've ever heard the album, aside from, of course, songs like "Hey You" and "Mother" and "Comfortably Numb". But, anyway, given time, I'm sure I'll grow to like all the songs!

I haven't listened to much Linkin Park, but I bought the one album because In The End, or whatever it's called. I love that song!

As for Stoning you, you're talking to the right guy!!!

Turiya, I'm quite partial to a little bit of Linkin Park as well :)

F&F, "In The End" is one awesome song, I love it too :).

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Well, been listening to The Wall a few times now, and I've decided I like the songs I didn't like on the first listen. These are my favorites:

The Happiest Days Of Our Lives
Another Brick In The Wall (Part II)
Mother
Another Brick In The Wall (Part III)
Goodbye Cruel World
Hey You
Is There Anybody Out There?
(awesome instrumentals on this one)
Comfortably Numb
In The Flesh?/In The Flesh
Waiting For The Worms
(my favorite song by Floyd, maybe--especially the part when they go, "Would you like to see Britannia rule again, my friend?")
Stop
The Trial
(that one's awesome! "Call the schoolmaster!")
Outside The Wall

I love the album, but find the movie to be somewhat unsettling. In fact, the first time I saw it it gave me some pretty vivid and nasty mightmares. 8O

"Which one's Pink?" -- That line, from the song "Have A Cigar" on Wish You Were Here, has to be the best summing up of the music industry in as few words as possible.

Oh yeah, and if you haven't heard David Gilmour's solo on "Dogs" from Animals, you're missing the best sound ever!

Oh man, now you're talkin'! IMHO, Pink Floyd is the greatest band ever, period! I have never heard a Floyd song I didn't love, but two of my especial favorites are On the Turning Away, and that nameless little guitar piece after "Is there anybody out there?" (x4) between Hey You and Nobody Home - that's one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard, especially when the violin comes in.

The lyrics I put up in my 1st post in this thread r from the song Astronomy Domine found on The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, written by Syd Barrett. Atom Heart Mother is an aquired taste--but I recommend u check out these pre-Dark Side of the Moon CDs, as well:
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
A Saucerful of Secrets
Music from the movie More
Ummagumma
Atom Heart Mother
Meddle
Obscured By Clouds

Meddle seriously kicks folks--buy it, u will b xtemely happy! 8O (p.s. LF that is so right on about Gilmore's licks on Dogs!)

This is THE best Floyd link out there bar none! (even if they do have The Division Bell graphic upside down):www.pinkfloyd-co.com/

We're just two lost souls swimmin in fish bowl
Year after year

I have alot of fond memories hearing that song. Dark side of the moon is a really good album. I've heard alot of Pink Floyd but I don't own much for some reason. Have to go on a shopping spree and fix that one day.
