Oh, very cool! How much live stuff of Pink Floyd's do you have? I only have Live at Pompeii, The Wall Live, and PULSE.

Perhaps you could burn me a CD? I'd send you my address and all . . . Leastwise, the one the FBI doesn’t monitor.

amanibhavam wrote:Well, as we talk about the greatest band ever, uncle amanibhavam brings you something to listen to, for illustration only:-)

Embryo
Careful with that Axe, Eugene
Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun

All 3 are live recordings from the 1969-71 era.
Uncle Amani, I would have liked to hear those, but after trying for 33 minutes to pull the first one, my computer crashed. :( Is there another way, or is my education adequate without them?

Amanibhavam: You have a nice selection of older Floyd.
I recently recorded from a Westward One Concert that was broadcast on the radio a concert from 1970 or 1971.
The song list has:

EMBRYO
GREEN IS THE COLOUR
WHAT IF (?)
THE ATOM HEARTED MOTHER
ONE OF THESE DAYS
ECHOES

I missed out on getting SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN on tape though.
A long song, but a good one.

These are live preformances and is the second time I heard a Pink Floyd concert over the airwaves.
The first time was on a BBC radio broadcast several years ago.

I own The Wall, Wish You Were Here, and the Dark Side of the Moon. All kick ass. I really wanna buy Echoes, their best-of, to get into their earlier and later works. They're supposed to have quite a library. My favorite song by the Floyd is Shine On You Crazy Diamond and there are many many others that I enjoy. However, though I like the Wall, I can't listen to it too much- it really depresses me.

Mhoram, I suggest getting PF's Animals. For me, it's one of those albums you can listen to over and over.

Division Bell is good, and yes, I think Marooned is one of their best instrumentals. My favorite album is probably Wish You Were Here, although Atom Heart Mother is good also.

I have Division Bell in the car now. Momentary Lapse of Reason is my personal favorite.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
A Saucerful of Secrets
Music from the movie More
Ummagumma
Atom Heart Mother
Meddle
Obscured By Clouds

Meddle seriously kicks folks--buy it, u will b xtemely happy! 8O (p.s. LF that is so right on about Gilmore's licks on Dogs!)

This is THE best Floyd link out there bar none! (even if they do have The Division Bell graphic upside down):www.pinkfloyd-co.com/
Oh no, for real floyders the best site is

that is Colin Turner's site, and he is a guy who saw PF in the UFO Club back in '68...

I am glad to see other "Floyd Fanatics" on Kevin's Watch.

In my ALBUM collection:
The Dark Side Of The Moon... of course;
Wish You Were Here;
The Delicate Sound Of Thunder;
A Momentary Lapse Of Reason;
The Division Bell;
Meddle;
Relics (The white cover with the drawing of a castle);
The Wall;
Animals.

On Cassette:
The Wall;
The Dark Side of the Moon;
Meddle;
a live recording of a 1971/72 concert (Westward One Concert Series)
Knebworth '90 (the entire set);
The Delicate Sound of Thunder;
Roger Waters and Friends: The Wall (recorded from the radio live, as it happened.
They stopped the concert and started over and it's on tape)

On Video: :
Knebworth '90 (MTV version);
The Pulse Tour (Dark Side Of The Moon is the second half of the concert);
Live in Pompeii;
A Momentary Lapse Of Reason.

Compact Discs: The Dark Side of the Moon, The Final Cut, and Meddle

...plus other various cassettes recorded from the radio with interviews, phone-in sessions, and different tid-bits from the band members themselves.

*Did I mention that I like Pink Floyd?*

Well, we started rehearsals for The Wall last night.... :faint:

This is going to be so cool!! The ideas that the writing team have come up with, and the way it's being staged....it's.... very powerful. 8O I've broken out in goosebumps several times already, upon learning exactly what we're doing for each song....and damn near cried tonight when Michael was describing the ....(choreography?)....for Goodbye Blue Sky...

But choreography is a misleading term. There's no dancing involved. It's more like silent movie acting. And I don't think it's going to come off as arty, or hokey at all. (I must admit, I was a tiny bit concerned about that... ;) )

And Gabe is astounding us all with his aptitude for all this. 8) He's never been on stage before, but he's picked up everything we've gone over very quickly, and retained it too. :D And he's heartrendingly appealing as Young Pink! I'm not the only one who's ended up with bumpy arms and damp eyes, watching him watch Daddy, as he pauses to lay the first brick in the Wall on his way to the war... :cry:

I swear it's not just 'cause I'm his mom. ;)

This is so much fun!! :D :D :D :R

Has anyone a copy of the brilliant Saucerful of Secrets? It is well nigh on impossible to get hold of in my experience
The reality is in this head. Mine. I'm the projector at the planetarium, all the closed little universe visible in the circle of that stage is coming out of my mouth, eyes, and sometimes other orifices also.
