Cuisine

Post by Infelice »

Here in OZ we are exposed to so many different nationalities...we pride ourselves on our diverse multiculturalism.
A result of this is that we have so many different cuisines to choose from when looking to dine out.
I love Italian, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican (probably the most) and Aussie - an ecclectic mixture of tastes from all different nationalities.
How about you guys?

I don't see Eastern European--my favorite! Polish, German in particular.
Ah, well. I voted for Italian because I could only vote once! I have yet to meet a culture's gastronomy that I can't embrace!! :D

Mexican, hopefully complete with live mariachi music, with a really good trumpet player! :!: :!: :!:
But I'll settle for Italian or spicy Chinese anyday.

I didn’t see an option for Australian dishes... Hmmmm too bad. I'll eat anything Ozzy as long as there is COFFEE involved.

I like all the choices, but I think my favorite would have to be Japanese, as it includes both teppanyaki-style dining and sushi (and miso soup... and chopsticks).
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Then, by your logic, Freshness is a California roll with fried spider legs in the middle! Urgh!!

Seriously, though. At Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, my grandfather ate just such a combination. The spider legs were sticking out the middle. Oh god! I'll eat a California roll, yes, but NOT with spider legs in them. And I like squid or octopus or whatnot. Those are great--like ham. I'd like a squid sandwich, please.

My favorite pieces of octopus/squid meat are the kind that has those plunger-shaped suckers still on them.

Oh that’s great!!! LOL, I can rest now, with the knowledge that I am not the only one to enjoy a good sucker now and then!!!

Oh, squid sucker that is... Just want to make that clear!
