Following the cables led him to a a warehouse, then snaked off across the floor and into a back room. The place seemed to have been hit by rioters back when the trouble started: windows shattered, debris scattered across the floor. He was surprised that the TV had been left intact. Miles moved in slowly, scanning every corner of the room as he moved toward the back.
The small storeroom was dark; the cables from the TV set stopped at a socket just inside the door. He listened carefully for movement inside: nothing. Taking out the torch he had found in the Bay, he scanned quickly across the room. No-one there. He found the lighswitch on the wall nearby; he gave it a flick, and light flooded the storeroom. He saw tools; boxes; nothing.
The power should be out. Why isn't the power out?
A shout sounded from outside. Miles put out the light and moved to the edge of the doorway. Peering round: the warehouse was empty, sounds emerging from the street outside.
He moved swiftly across the warehouse floor, and arrived in time to catch a glimpse of walking corpses in the street, and another figure, running, disappearing around the street corner.
Miles kept back in the shadows, out of sight of the undead. The warehouse had another door, at the far side. Moving quietly, he went over and slipped out into the street, then, eyes open for any sign of more undead--and there would be more--he began to track round to where he had seen that dark figure.

Mace had laid the bait. And the soldier was taking it.

Preparing his last dvd he slipped back out of sight and drew his blade, preparing himself for the onslaught. Across the room, Bravo crouched behind a jumble of debris, ready to back his play.

The soldier had entered the room. Puzzled, he froze in place as he saw another porno playing on a different TV. Or perhaps the same one, merely moved?

Mace could almost see his brain working beneath the closely cropped hair. But his hesitation was to cost him dearly.

Even as the soldier paused in thought, unable to act in his surprise, Mace stepped lightly from his concealment, driving his razor-sharp blade down at the unprotected junction of spine and neck before him, staying to one side to give Bravo room for a backup shot.

The soldier crumpled to the ground, turning still-puzzled eyes up toward his attacker...the question plain on his face.

"Manny Cestus was my friend," Mace growled in a hoarse, almost apologetic whisper, as the light faded from the soldiers eyes.

Jarek Mace crushed a momentary flash of guilt. Those who live by violence tend to die by violence, and he knew he was merely an instrument of fate.

The soldier had sealed his doom when he'd gunned down Manny Cestus in the first few days of their brave new world.

From that moment on, Mace's steps had led him inexorably toward this meeting.

Wiping his blade on the soldiers uniform, he sighed and began dividing the equipment he'd carried between himself and Bravo.
Now because You have led me astray, I shall surely sit in ambush for them on Your straight path.

Turn Twelve

Special Events:Epidemic! A disease breaks out in Watch City, killing most. Every character loses one follower.

The Creeping Abomination absorbs undead and fashions more limbs. It now can move two zones a turn. It moves into the Police District.

Turn Twelve Summary:
Bernard Black listens to the voters' complaints regarding undead plaguing the city; he reinforces one of the buildings in the CBD so that it is more defensible. The perpetually drunk politician attacks zombies but fails to kill a single one, though it certainly didn't help that he was holding a 'How to Get Drunk' pamphlet in his hands instead of gun. The undead fail to reach him.

Joe Marlowe moves to the Docks and uses Food (healing everyone in the Clan). He attacks the undead there, and kills eight zombies. The undead fail to harm him.

Jarek Mace plays another Porno dvd to prevent Captain Miles from taking any actions this turn. He then attacks the soldier, causing him to lose a hit point. The undead fail to harm him.

Johnny Bravo finishes off Captain Miles, the same way he finishes a sports game (only with more blood). He is attacked by the undead and he loses a hit point, but the injury is absorbed by the expensive suit.

Alex Western moves to the Docks and investigates. He discovers Defense Equipment in one of the shipping crates. He loses a hit point after being attacked by undead. He is near death!

Jove Jones investigates the docks. The police officer fails to find anything. The undead fail to harm her.

Jack Frost attacks the undead in the CBD. He fails to kill any. The undead fail to find him.

Rewards:Most characters receive xp for excellent roleplaying. Johnny Bravo, Jack Frost, and Joe Marlowe have all reached level 3 and now have 1 point to increase Defense, Attack or Investigate ratings, or to increase the maximum number of hit points.

As the knife struck home and he heard the words of his attacker, a single thought passed through the dying soldier's mind.
Who the hell is Manny Cestus?

Great Ending murrin.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.

The rush he felt as he pulled the trigger was just like hitting that game winning play. He enjoyed it. He felt the adrenaline run through his arms and bounded over the crate that had been his cover.

The gaping wound in this soldiers neck was nausiating, he quickly stripped the body of anything useful - An M-16! He was even more amed and dangerous than he was before!

It was a means to an end he told himself, now for my turn.

After wandering around in search of Max for some considerable time, Bernard decided he should probably get on with something productive. He had a sense that the world was rushing by him, everyone scurrying about their business, while he dallied here, oblivious to the passage of time.

With a shrug, he returned to the place where Jack seemed to be setting up the base. After a moment's thought, Bernard went to his car and opened one of the rear doors. There, on the back seat, lay the defence kit. Without hesitation, Bernard reached for the kit, adjusted its position slightly, and used it as a pillow.

After ten minutes or so of trying without success to sleep off his growing hangover - again - he decided the defensive gear might be put to better use elsewhere. From rifling through it in his spare moments, he'd managed to work out that it was some kind of industrial-grade reinforcing equipment. Ideal, really, for setting up a zombie-resistant hideout. With 'Build A Bunker In Three Easy Steps' in one hand and his throbbing head in the other, Bernard set about trying to reinforce the base Jack had begun.
Oh. Bugger.

Frost happily laid another chunk of concrete on his makeshift wall. It didn't look like much now, but If he could scrounge a bag of concrete, it would withstand a good sized bomb. I think...

A strange thud sounded to his left flank. Jack turned quickly expecting the worst: a zombie sneak attack. What he found scared him more.

Good GOD! Why's his face all bloated!?

"Stevenson! Shit! What's wrong!?"

The body was writhing on the ground, his hands around his throat. His face was bloated to twice the normal size, and had turned a disgusting shade of blue and purple. Frost jumped the small wall and skidded to a stop next to Stevenson. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't tear his hands from around his throat. The body went still. GOD! Now WHAT!? What do I do!?

Frost spotted Black coming around the corner holding that Defense Kit he'd had from before. Black looked like his head hurt, and he was pretty pale. God I hope it's not the same thing... better make sure. I need to keep his hands down and away from his throat. Make sure he doesn't choke himself out!

Jack tore around the corner, tackling Black to the pavement. He screamed at him, "Can you breathe!? GOD! Breathe!" He pinned his arms to the ground in an effort to stop him from choking himself to death as it seemed Stevenson had done.

"Do you feel okay!? Talk to me!!!"

"Well, at this moment I feel like I HAVE A STINKY HOBO SITTING ON MY CHEST!
"Other than that, I have a hangover the size and weight of Belgium. Do you want some of it?"

Well, what do you know? I am sitting on his chest. How did that happen?

Frost climbed off Black and gave him a hand up. He swept off some of the dirt from his back.

"Check out Stevenson, Mr. Senator."

He pointed to the bloated and misscolored body lying a few feet away.

"Have you seen Max around lately? I'm worried about how many others could have gotten what killed Stevenson. And sorry about the tackle there. I don't want to be alone. I hate being alone."

He looked down at his feet, like a berated child.

"Stop it! Stop it! You're just wiping dirt on!"

Bernard glared at Jack. The hobo's downcast expression caused a slight swelling of pity in Bernard's stomach - or, at least, he thought it was probably pity - so he glared harder. I don't do pity.

"Look, just give me a hand with this defence stuff."

He cast a brief glance around for Max.

"And don't worry about that old git. Zombies don't seem to go for him. I think they mistake him for one of their own."

Bernard reached for the manual again, then continued, "Speaking of people the zombies don't attack, I wouldn't mind some of whatever cologne Alex Western wears. The buggers avoid him like a stinky hobo. No offence."

Fishing around in the defence kit, he tried to get started. Okay.....where does this bit go?......

Frost stopped what he was doing. Black's words echoed in his mind.

...buggers avoid him like a stinky hobo.

Now THAT is interesting.

"Any idea why? I mean, he could solve a lot of our problems here, if we could get him over here. Were you with him before us? Would he come over?"

And if he was, why did Black leave? What could make a man leave a living Zombie Shield....?

Jack Frost wrote:"Any idea why? I mean, he could solve a lot of our problems here, if we could get him over here. Were you with him before us? Would he come over?"
Bernard paused in his haphazard barrier erection.

"I wouldn't say I was 'with him'. We were...in some of the same rooms for a while......"

He frowned, wondering how much to tell Frost.

"Circumstances...er...ejected me. Truth be told, though, I was never that comfortable around him. He looked too haunted. Like he knew too much."

He sighed and returned to his barricade construction.

"Of course, that was pretty early in this whole bloody nightmare. Back then, I didn't realise just how much I was in the fresh fertiliser. Now...I don't know. Maybe I'd give him another chance. Not likely to arise though; I didn't make many friends over there. Somehow, my boyish charm and razor wit just didn't cut it."

Well THAT was a politicinas dodge, if I've ever seen one.....well....I haven't but, I bet that's what it sounds like. I wonder why he left. Or got kicked out? I wonde.... GAH!

Frost stood like a shot. The piece of conrete he was using on the wall flew over Black's head, just as he was rising. A splatter of blood and bone shrappnel covered both men. The zombie walking towards them slummped to the ground and twitched a bit before going still.

Both Black's and Frost's eyes were as big a silver dollars.

Jack took a quick breathe and returned to work. He spoke to the still standing, and mildly shocked Black:

"So was he alone? I mean, if were going to try and find this dude, which I think we should, are the chances good that he's still alive? And if he is, do you think he'd join us Tuna Sandwiches?"

Frost peered sideways and Black watching for any signs. Especially a lie.

Have I got zombie on my face or something? What the hell is he peering at me for?

Irritated by the sudden deluge of questions, Bernard pondered how much to reveal. Such pondering was difficult with something that felt suspiciously like nuclear testing going on inside his head.

"No, he wasn't alone. He had friends. Unstable and dangerous friends. I wouldn't bother trying to find them." He glared at the ground, in the absence of a more appropriate target. "They're the kind of people who will stab you in the back without a second thought. The kind of people who will steal your best hopes for survival and throw you out on the zombie-infested street. In short, they're prime candidates for political office."

He stared at Jack for a few moments, attempting sincerity and gravitas.

"Stay away from them if you want to keep the shirt--" or whatever that grimy rag is meant to be "--on your back."

Turn Thirteen

Special Events:Looting! Some of the survivors have completely looted one of the zones, so that nothing of use can be found there from now one. This occurs in Central Park.

The Creeping Abomination moves into the CBD and attacks every living thing there. It is like a tidal wave of fused bodies. Then it moves on to Downtown.

Turn Thirteen Summary:
Jack Frost attacks the undead in the CBD. He burns nine undead. He is attacked by the Abomination and loses two hit points. The undead monstrosity kills the poor hobo!

Bernard Black leaves the CBD before the terror surges into the city, and reaches the Prison before sunset. He investigates the silent facility and finds a crowbar. When he gets out of his car he is swarmed by undead, and he loses a hit point.

Joe Marlowe moves to the Prison from the Docks in Jove's police car. He attacks the undead there, killing five undead with his lawnmower. The undead fail to injure him.

Jove Jones drives to the Prison from the Docks, and attacks undead. She fails to kill any zombies. No undead reach her.

Alex Western uses his Surgeon's Tools on himself and Jove, and they are now fully healed. He travels to the Prison with the police officer and the haunted ship mechanic. When he reaches the site he investigates and finds some Narcotics.

Johnny Bravo attacks Jove Jones, but she drives away too fast. The undead attack him en masse, and he loses a hit point.

Jarek Mace likewise attempts to kill the police officer, but she escapes. He loses a hit point after being attacked by undead.

They sat in the car talking, he had her in his sights. After all this time he would have his revenge on the woman that had ruined his life. Suddenly she glanced over her shoulder forcing him to make a jump for cover. He had been seen. She Sped off. The Hunt was on.
