Deer o' D. - I did finish Runes and Fatal as well and
This means that I'm either raving or that I'm right. I prefer to think it's the second. It's Linden that has problems and needs to change and develop and Thomas is one of those annoying know-it-alls that'll be silent, as the grave.
I maintain my position that this series is about Linden and not Thomas. This little glimpse at the end of a book was just such an example to the annoying glimpses I was talking about. (and I took to heart the various warnings not to believe what you saw there from the start)

You're right, Shoe; my response was more to HLTolkien. Although we may get more of Thomas as the series progresses, the name is kind of carved in the market. If SRD had called it the Chronicles of Linden Avery, ... doesn't have the ring (no pun intended ) that "Covenant" does. Covenant is a powerful word; great choice for a hero's name. "Avery" just sounds like printer labels or something.Series' naming is not very flexible. Naming the series after Thomas Covenant means nothing. And yet we have Donaldson himself trying to justify the name with many a winks and hints. He knows his readers want to sniff some of that good LSD, I mean, TC stuff.
How much of "The Lord of the Rings" was about Sauron, anyway? So don't have a caamora, man. (Sorry, I had to say that)

I am a little tired about reading the last chronicals of Thomas Covenant because of its focus on Linden, but it's not that I dislike her, she just pales in comparison to Covenant.
Some parts of the last chronicals are great, but others are kind of disappointing, but I think SRD can still redeem himself in the last two books though.
