Escher is awesome. He has some of the most thought provoking artwork i have ever seen. i have one or two ties that are made from his art work. they always get a good reaction at functions and formals.

I love his "self-portrait" the black, white and gray rendering of his hand holding the globe and also the "arched palace" one with the strange inverted staircases and the little gnomes walking all over them. Mo(e)bius strips, etc..etc..!

Thanks for telling us! :)

Anybody read Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid? I only read a couple hundred pages into it a few years ago. Gotta get back to that one. What an amazing book!!

Y'know, I think I read both of those books as well. If I remember correctly, I used them as resources for my chemistry term paper (biggest piece of BS ever written... and I set the curve with it).

"The Interconnectedness of Chaos Theory, Probability, and Quantum Mechanics"
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
