There are two kinds of people who complain about capitalism, and champion communism. The first kind are those who are not strong enough, capable enough, skilled enough, or intelligent enough to profit from a system of competition. They are people who want something given to them because they don't have the power, the will, or the skill to procure it for themselves. It's a political system of the weak, the unimaginative, the unskilled, the unintelligent . . . in short, those who need their neighbors to support them. THAT is the ultimate selfish act: to insist that others take care of your because you lack the ability or the will to take care of yourself.

Then there are those who pander to this group of weaklings, in order to make their own power more complete. Those are the leaders of communism. I actually don't blame them one bit. They seize an opportunity which is only possible given the lack of fortitude of the masses. What else are you going to do with such a whiny bunch of "give me your money" types of people? You certainly can't inspire them to fend for themselves. So why not take advantage of their need for dependency and disregard for personal freedom?

There are two kinds of people who champion capitalism. First there are those who are too blind, too indoctrinated, and too easily swayed by convenient illusions, half-truths, and mass propaganda to see that they are more cogs in a machine than independent agents. Some of these people lived contented, happy, and successful lives; others are as miserable and pathetic as Willy Loman in Arthur Miller's A Death of a Salesman.

The second type of person is the class that propagates these myths and convenient illusions, and creates a society in which lip-service is paid to some entity called "capitalism" which is in itself fatally flawed, while in fact a radical statist system, which is far worse both in theory and of course in practice, exists to their own extreme benefit.

Touche!

Rereading my post, I think it's perhaps something more appropriate for the Tank. So I'm not going to debate you here.

However, I want to point out that I was primarily reacting to this: "On this, I'd point out that Communism, as a theory or model, isn't about suppression of the individual; it's about suppression of selfishness." (CovJr).

This value judgment I find objectionable, and not historically accurate. So I was fighting back. But that's probably not appropriate for this forum, and I apologize.

Because Stalin set the bar for how many should die during a purge.. Like 20 to 40 million executed.

That was before the National Socialist Party of Germany and their leader attacked the World's Socialist Workers Party and their leader.

Tiananmen square has around 10000 killed max.

How many were executed for the sake of capitalism?
What's this silver looking ring doing on my finger?
